I had mislaid my trust in someone that I shouldn't have, and as a result the rofall thing happened. I am feeling extremely stupid, and for a PNA who bases all their work around security, this has happened.

I feel extremely stupid and upset. I've changed all my passwords to everything, but I am still stuck with how do deal with this in a personal way. I don't know what else I can't trust him with, and everything has gone under review.

Thankyou to meta, toraton, oddballz, Euda, zok and everyone else on IRC then for knowing me enough to know something was amiss. You have proven your quality, now I must assure you I still have mine.

What I'm talking about, just so I can get it out:

For some time (unbeknownst to me) there has been suspicion amongst the other mods that user 'RoFallAndBreakYourHypnol' has been privy to 'inside information' which has made the mods uneasy. My only dealings with this particular poster was to appeal a ban through which I was contacted by email, I thought he was a bit of an idiot, but my role stopped there.

I go on IRC and some mods had been expressing concerns that led to them thinking I might have something to do with these 'leaks' or that I might know something that would help. Something in my mind suddenly and extremely embarrassingly clicked. 'Rofall' only posts when I am not signed in, and did actually appear to have a fairly intimate knowledge of what was going on in the mod forum. Looking at his posts the particular giveaway was the word 'outages', which had then only been posted here, until meta made a thread in SG. Rofall used this to make the mods uneasy, at which point it became clear to them something was wrong.

I realised that RoFallAndBreakYourHypnol was actually Joe. He had used my account to look at stuff in the mod forum over a period of time without me knowing about it or having any suspicions whatsoever. I had used his computer to check the forums before and thought nothing of it, I hadn't left my password on it, though he appears to have an intimate knowledge of most of my passwords too for some reason.

I called him and asked him bluntly if he had been using my account and he said he had. Stomach dropped, etc.

Thus my embarrassment at looking like such an idiot when all this was happening under my nose and I didn't even realise, and my inner turmoil that comes with knowing him in some very personal ways too. My trust here has been well and truly stamped on, and I feel like I've been walked over by a 'friend in metal boots'
