MLoR cont.
As suggested by Jive Talka, the controversy over whether or not to remove MLoR as super mod should continue in this thread.

Re: MLoR cont.
meh...I've never really seen him do any decision making, but based on what I read in the other thread...yeah, pretty un-super-mod-like...

Sorry, I didnt realise there was a new thread made for this, I'll delete my post in the other thread in a minute.
Anyway:

There is no fucking way that MLOR is doing anything other than being a superb SuperMod. He's supportive and responds to peoples problems within a very short period of time. He is sensible and decent and trustworthy, and whilst I dont know him personally I feel very safe and happy in the fact that he's in controll.
Please everyone, if you must say that someone needs to be removed, or de-modded, think REAL DEEP about if you're saying that because of genuine Totse related reasons, or if it's a personal reason.
I dont think "because I dont like him" is a good enough reason to remove someone, to be honest. Especially not a awesome SuperMod like MLOR.
Please dont remove him,Jeff! I want him!
*stamps foot*
I'll say it again just to be clear, I dont think personal reasons should get in the way of your professional totse oppinion of someone.

Re: MLoR cont.
When Zok, acidmelt and a large chunk of the mods, especially mods like euda, agree then its fairly clear what needs to be done.
I don't like the idea of him being de-supermodded but I know acidmelt did use to like the guy (as a supermod), and for acidmelt to have changed his opinion takes some doing.

Re: MLoR cont.
I've only dealt with MLOR one-on-one a few times but his actions and reactions on this board have lead me to believe that he is unfit to be a supermod.
Aside from the obvious stuff like mass bannings and threating of demodding to those who differ from his views, his overall conduct and behavior leaves much to be desired.

I don't think "personal reasons", other than the apprication of this site and its users, has anything to do with these peoples opinions.

If anything, MLoR is guilty of this on multiple counts: demodding PirateHippie because they broke up, mass bannings without justified reason, and threatening me simply because I choose to disagree with his actions!
Based on my dealings with MLoR, he is clearly unfit for the position of SuperMod and should probably be returned to Moderator status.

I haven't seen anyone state the case based on personal reason....

Do you have proof of this please?
I've missed alot, I dont generally post in the sort of forums where this sort of thing apparently happens.
You guys are describing MLOR like he's some power abusing nazi mod, and I dont get that at all.
Are we talking about the same MLOR?
As for PirateHippie, she made it clear she no longer had any interest in modding on totse, rarely if ever posted, and it was generally agreed that she should be removed. It's not as though MLOR just randomly removed her one day without asking anyone!
I dont know the guy personally so I can only base what I'm saying on the support he's given me and posters here.
And mass bannings?
I thought one of the reasons for having admins and supermods was so they could ban people for us!!
Many a times I've emailed various supermods, or admins, to have people perma-banned. I dont think MLOR would be dumb enough to ban someone just because someone said "k ban this person, I dont like them" would he?
I think collectively, MLOR, Zok and Acidmelt have been doing a good job of all this, and it would be a shame to destroy the team they've got going.
Even if they dont like each other ( I was not aware of that) they make a good team.

i dont think anyone said that he removed her because they broke up, but he did BAN her because they broke up. Also I have all ready made a lengthy post about this in jeffs "outages" thread.

that is exactly what we're talking about.

Yes, but that wasn't for us, it was for him - for personal reasons. That's not why he is here. And 20 or 30 at once?? The only time there should be such a mass banning is for a spam or hack attempt or attack. Not because someone postred MNS conversations you had.

The things that he says in #totse not only make the site look bad, but makes the staff look even worse. On top of that he uses totse for his own personal revenge. Like was all ready stated above, he banned Pirate Hippy (who used to mod for us) because they broke up (and no, she didnt send anyone to break his legs, thats rediculous). Immaturity +1. Then he goes on a banning spree of 20 to 30 users because they posted a chat log of him talking dirty to some 13 year old child. Nothing in this chat log was personal information either. Again, thats some serious immaturity. On top of all of this, a lot of the shit that he has said in #totse lately makes me SERIOUSY wonder about his mental health. I dont know if its the drugs or drink or he just has some seriuos mental problems, but it seems like he hsa a hard time controlling himself.
I later find out he banned like, 20 people for sharing a piece of a conversation mlor had with someone on IRC (correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was the info). I know a lot of them were unbanned afterwards, but it's huge over reactions like this that worry me
Toraton, AcidMelt, and Zok respectively.

Yoyobek,
As you said, you're unaware of the issues involved.
Many things were left out of this forum and general discussion for the benefit of MomentaryLapseOfReason. He's not bad people, just not suited to role he is in.

Re: MLoR cont.
Thanks for the responses all.
I think it's stupidly harsh to remove someone though.. isnt it?
He was made a supermod for a reason, and that reason still stands.
I really hope Jeff thinks this through and lets MLOR explain himself, else this might end up being another Sambob situation all over again.. Ie, antagonistic at times? Sure. Amazingly suited to the job he's been given? Totaly.
Totse might suffer with his removal badly.

totse wasn't exactly in dire straits without a SuperMod.
I think you may be being somewhat dramatic.

Not in the least. People who abuse their powers have been demodded many times in the past and what he did is worse - no Mod has banned 30 people for personal reasons. That alone would be enough in my book.

No. It does not still stand.

I disagree, I don't think it's anyting like with Sambob
It will be better for totse for him to not be Super Mod [I have no problem with him being a Mod, AFAIK he does a fine job with his forum when he was a regular Mod].

Re: MLoR cont.

If I was being dramatic I'd have re-enacted my favorite scene from Ichi the killer in this thread by now. :)
I feel that when someone fucks up, be it on a personal or professional level, they should be given a chance to rectify and change.
He's been told by people what's been done wrong,soo..why cant he be given another chance?
Sometimes people are worth persevering with.
EDIT:
To further what I'm trying to say (god I fucking suck at literacy at times. Sorry, bear with me)..
is that everyone fucks up at times. Everyone does stuff wrong. Now I've still no actual proof from members of anything so I cant say either way, but you've told him what he's done wrong, dont you think it would be cool to let him try and improve for you?
God knows I've fucked up on Totse a fair few times, and luckily there are people like Meta who will point this out to me and give me a chance to change.
It would be awfull if I wasnt even told that I'd done something wrong or warned, and there was just a sudden abrupt thread requesting I be removed. That would be messed up!
Meta, everyone mods differently. How many people have you infracted? How many threads have you closed/deleted?
I cant answer your question though. :(
It'd be nice if this thread could stay friendly though. I hope that I'm not alienating people and make them not like me by defending what I feel is right.

Re: MLoR cont.
I honestly am not sure why he was made a supermod in the first place. There's many people who I think would be much better for the job, but that's not up for discussion right now. In any case, powertrip seems like a good term to apply to this.

These issues have all been discussed with MomentaryLapseOfReason at length and with a variety of people over a period of months.
As you said, you aren't familiar with the issues at hand. Simply because you don't see things happening, it doesn't mean that they aren't taking place.

Re: MLoR cont.
As mods of a big scary forum, we're all meant to stick together.
If MLOR has been in the wrong for banning people for posting personal information, what about situations Such as this old one? (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2056121)
Is that not then powertripping also?

Yes, that is powertripping. If you're looking for 'evidence', that would be a part of it.

But Meta seemed fine with that sort of 'powertripping' ?
It's gotta go one way or another. You either want the guy to ban people for you or you dont!
Which?
I'm so very confused by all this.
In times of stress I cook. I'm going to go and cook..Pie. Yes. Pie.
I hope we're still friends. I like pretty much all the mods on Totse and I hope people arent going to dislike me for disagreeing.
I want MLOR to stay. :(
Me leave thread now.

Can you honestly not comphrend the difference between banning a handful of spammers and banning 30 users simply because they talked about some silly chat-log?

Yoyo, what I was ok with was Wires infracting those people [those people, hell it was all the same person with 3 accounts]. And not because they said shit about my daughter. It was because there was a shitload of threads about my daughter. And in fact, that it was about my daughter hads nothing to do with it. I would approve of anything done for multiple threads on any topic.

Re: MLoR cont.
Some of you are blind to what happens around here. That whole bullshit with jeb and cosmo etc started because mlor couldn't handle that log being posted, which turned into him banning multiple users (most of which were unbanned after euda talked to him) and hence the whole freedom of speech war started.
I'm sorry mlor, you're far too unstable, get insulted easily and even if you are open to suggestions, you truly never seem to take them on board. An admin/supermod is meant to be level-headed enough to take shit on the chin, and not let their personal feelings get in the way of being an admin as much as you do.
Yoyo, I don't think you even understand what happened.
