Default post-2 year relationship

Hello,

As some of you may of read, Myself and my girlfriend broke up about 6 weeks ago. One hell of an experiance.

Now I was speaking to a really good friend of mine last night and she thought that it hadn't been long at all since it happened. It came accros that she thought that I really shouldnt be over the entire thing at all.

I am not saying I am over her by any means but I have gained a whole new composure over it all. Before last week, I couldnt even handle the sound of her voice, I would just completly breakdown and have to end the conversation.

Now I am starting to find some women friends attractive, some of the closer ones even more so. Also, I met my ex for 30minutes on sunday, and it is weird because I dont find her nearly as attractive as I used to.

How long have people in a similar situation (coming out of a similar length relationship) taking to move on and find a girlfriend or find someone they have a crush on?

It depends on the girl, I guess. But if you're over her in 6 weeks, she must not have been that special. There was a girl I saw three times over the course of a couple weeks. And then it ended, and I didn't hear from her for three months, and even after three months, I wasn't over her.

I am NOT over her. I said that in the post...

I loved this girl. I would of proposed to her once we had finished university. My point was that I am starting to find other women actractive and that I don't know whether or not it 'right' to become interested in another woman.

Theres nothing wrong with finding other women attractive. Theres nothing wrong, really...with being with other women. In fact, a lot of people would reccomend it. But when you can look at her and no longer feel that attraction, then thats when you know you're over her.

I'm 16, I was in a 2.5 year relationship until less than 2 months ago...She got another b/f w/ in 3 weeks.

I am havin a good time flirting and I enjoy the attention from girls now. I do not think my ex is drop dead gorgeous like I used to think. I see qualities in girls that I never experienced.

I loved being in a relationship with this girl. Such an amazing thing.

I was so involved in it, I just didnt find other women attractive. Now, a couple of my best women friends are becoming really attractive to me. It is fucking shit, I dont want to screw things up with these great friends because of this!

Something just feels out about dating other women just now. I don't want to be single, and if I put the effort in I could find someone. It all just feels wrong.

Are you with anyone just now?

Have you hooked-up with any women since the break up?

Just take things one at a time. Don't rush into another relationship, because it doesn't appear that you are ready for one. Just go on a date, go out to the movies.

The skills (if you will) that I have obtained from being in a longterm relationship is: I have the ability to flat out ask a girl if she is looking to be more than friends with me.(it saves a lot of bull shit.)

I am not with anybody, but a girl wants to go out with me. She's quite attractive, but I just don't want to rush into another relationship. I've not hooked up with anybody,(my ex was my first g/f :p) but I'm going to a party tomorrow and plan on having fun with a girl there.

There is an italian girl I took out for a meal on monday, and I am going to edinburgh tomorrow. Should be interesting. I like her, and I should fancy her but I don't.

haha, yeah i know what you mean. Fuck the bullshit. I dont see the problem with just asking straight up.

That's the way to go, if you got any question or anything I'm sure I could help you through your situation from my recent experience. And...

If you're having problems getting over your ex or anything, Rabbitweed has an awesome guide on break-ups. I went from miserable after the breakup, to top of the world after reading it.

I have gained a great amount of composure over the entire situation. It is shit, because i am starting to dislike my ex, she is being such a dick. We were such good friends, and it comes across that she doesn't give a shit about me(which i know isnt true) but it doesn't stop it feeling that way. I was supposed to see her on tuesday, but i am busy and we are re-planning. It will be very odd.

Night night. This italian girl had the bright idea of meeting at 9:30am! It is now 3am...

Yea, my girl and I tried to stay 'friends' because we had so much in common it would be a waste to go completely separate ways, we hung out once or twice, kissed and stuff. Then after that she was only my friend when she would get something out of it. She is with another guy, and she pretty much is annoying and an attention seeking bitch.
