country differences
alright this mystery has been perplexing the hell outta me since coming to university two years ago.
i'm not sure if its the age difference or translation issues or w/e but since coming to toronto from america ive realized my ability to attract a girl is significantly handicapped.
and its funny because going back home things are golden, its a 4 hour car drive and things are just massively different. Before coming to toronto, i had girls pursuing me and its still the case when i go home. but here, jesus things are rough. and im not looking for anyone at this point, but if i end up back on the market i really dont have a good outlook on things.
really the gyst of this thread is, are there translation issues as to whats considered attractive from country to country?
moreover, i think a lot of my problem resides in the fact that i was always in a higher grade/older than the girls back home. here, even though im relatively old because of the american system im still the same year as most of my friends/acquaintances.
any thoughts?

My guess would be the age thing.

Re: country differences
It's because Canadians are self absorbed bitches. Most Canadians have jumped on the bandwagon with all the quasi-political European trendsters who think its sophisticated and cool to hate America.
Don't worry, I predict it will all die down when Bush is out of office.

That shouldn't mean anything though. How is anyone even going to know that he's American?

Its neither cool nor sophisticated to hate america. Its a perfectly normal and justified reaction to american arrogance and the fact you can't teach your soldiers to shoot straight (the guys with the Union Jack patches on their uniforms are there to save your sorry arses, try not to shoot them!).

Come on now, jack, let's be fair. We might be paying over £1 a litre for unleaded if they hadn't gone on that little oil crusade...
*checks petrol prices*
Never mind.

Re: country differences
Canadians have been hating Americans as a nation-wide hobby for as long as anybody.
It all goes back to the British giving Alaska to the Americans, way way way way back in the day.
However, nobody cares or puts any thought into it. A joke here, a joke there.
I'm guessing that it's your personality and what you consider to be attractive.

Wasn't that bought from Russia?
And it's likely your personality. That, and if you see it differently, you give off a vibe (also personality) that can make people treat you differently.

Is that what they're teaching in American schools now?
There was a border issue between Canada and the US at the time of the purchase. The British ruled in favour of the US.
They're always siding with the Americans.

Re: country differences
The United States still purchased Alaska from the Russians. There may have been a dispute about the Eastern border (which I don't remember) with Canada but either way, the US still bought it and Canada never owned Alaska in the first place.

Re: country differences
I've never heard of Somewhere.
Alaska would have been quite a different place if the British hadn't ruled in favour of the US.

Never mind.
The problems in the Middle East are keeping the oil prices up and really high, not down.

It was in fact bought from Russia. It's not the most popular decision among the Russians, but meh, what's done is done.

I found what you guys were talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaska_Boundary_Dispute It looks like all the territory was on the Southern part of Alaska.
