Anyone else like this?
This doesn't really have anything to do with relations, just more about myself. Reason I'm posting here cause S&A has the best answers I think.
Well the thing is, I'm a fairly hardcore nerd I always have been. I watch tons of anime, play a bunch of games. And travel to gaming tournaments.
But at the same time I have a life on the streets, People now go to me when they need hookups you know what I mean.
I feel like two different people now. Is anyone else similar like this?

Re: Anyone else like this?
I'd say a decent number of people are.
I party, drink, toke randomly and a few of my friends are dealers, race XC mtb, etc. but... I'm a big car/tech/engineering nerd, I tweak my pc a lot (now running Vista+XP, 2.5gb ram in a laptop, yay), no major games though, mess with lot of electronics stuff, etc. I'd die being stuck to just one side of it. *shrug*

Re: Anyone else like this?
I don't see how they're opposte sides. Lots of gamers are stoners. Same with techies. Drugs aren't a lifestyle. They just complement all the others.

Re: Anyone else like this?
What's wrong with doing more than 1 thing? I play guitar, work out, do martial arts/boxing, read and write, sometimes do homework, and party.
I can't just be "that boxer guy". I would go crazy if I couldn't live all of it.
Also, as a guy who's played video games in HUGE quantities for 10 or so years, let me tell you, they are the worst kind of time-sink in existence. Followed closely by TV.
You accomplish nothing by playing video games. Yes, they're fun, but at the same time, you can put 5 hours into WoW, or you can put 5 hours into having sex with a girl AND building a meaningful relationship.
I'm not saying Sex > Video Games, I'm just saying that after the video game is done, you've learned nothing, you've accomplished nothing, and your fat content is slightly higher.
If you play guitar for an hour, you've learned something, you've accomplished something, and (subjective, I know) you've had as much fun. Not to mention, when you're high, it's waaaaaaay cooler to play guitar than it is to say "screw you guys, I'm going to play WoW".
I'm not trying to change you, I'm just telling you that as a guy who played video games, I'm GLAD I've got Linux installed now. If I were to play video games, I wouldn't go out, wouldn't meet any new people, and would not accomplish anything. Plus, my grades would suffer.

Re: Anyone else like this?
I'm a bald (shaved clean!), tattooed, racist looking bastard with a wicked sense of humour who likes to go out, get fucked up, do crazy shit and get with as many women as possible in one night (before...Read on).
I love nothing more than getting me clobber on, making myself smell fucking good, going out and partying with people...Whether it be in a club...A metal bar...Someone's house...As long as there's booze and chicks, I am happy as a pig in shit enjoying good company and plenty of laughs!
Just got with a cool girl who loves heavy metal and my smile who I'll be seeing a lot more of... Yay.
On the other hand I'm an introverted dude who likes to play guitar, sing, read, write, sit on the net...I am currently modding my PC...Watercooling that shit, tweaking everything up, hacking holes in a perfectly good case to incorporate various peripherals and stuff.
I enjoy tinkering with electronics and circuits whilst listening to music.
I enjoy learning new skills and learning about new things...I have a really big thirst for knowledge.
Everyone has different sides of their personality...It breaks up a boring life.

That's a bad example dont you think?
How is fucking another human in a relatively animal fashion doing anything more 'constructive' than playing a game?
Partners come and go, whereas computer games will allways be there. And they wont bitch at you for having that extra beer or skipping breakfast.
Thread Starter, I dont see the problem. You've got hobbies you enjoy and a social life after a fashion. I think that's pretty normal, isnt it?

I'm a 6ft skinhead, former career violent criminal whose been tried for capital offences more than once but who at the same time was studying for a degree in theology.
There was a time when I would have gunned you down in a heartbeat if you got in my way but
I feed squirrels.
I cook. Yet chances are you'll find me at Ronald the Paedophile Clowns.
I'm a particulary evil sadist but I'll get out of bed at 3 in the soddin morning to go and 'chat' to some guy beating the living crap outta his girlfriend on the street.
I'm a proffesional alcoholic yet I view weed smokers and other junkies as 'weak'.
I'm a intovert, basement dwelling nerd.
I'm an extrovert, who is irresistable to women.
I'm extremely liberal, yet violently anti abortion.
People are full of contradictions. All part of life's rich tapestry.

Re: Anyone else like this?
Alright cool replys. Glad I'm not the only one.
Sometimes I confused myself in my own head cause I'm doing all these completely different things each day.
