I'd rather her do whatever she felt most comfortable with, or at least not create situation whereby I lose whether I take the hints or not. As someone that wants to help her through any trouble she has, I'd rather her come straight out with it if it was bothering her and let me in so I could work my man-magic (read: powers of logic and reasoning) and make her feel better. I wouldn't take that as a general rule for all men though, a lot of men out there would probably just rather not know - but then again, these men probably aren't worth the time of day (either they're too fragile to share someone else's burden or they simply don't care) and life's too short to waste time with these people.
