Default Does your Significant Other have an addiction?

I drink anywhere from 18 to 24 beers a day, smoke a few joints with my girlfriend, and her sis's boyfriend will snort a few Percocet 7.5 with me. That will pretty much conclude my day, aside from working on a few cars with a friend, cooking some steaks/hamburgers on the grill, and selling a few laptops/guns to a flea market/shady person.

I'll me the first to admit I don't actually "work" so to speak, but I pull my own weight, and for some reason people don't respect that, but that's besides my point.

I always hear stories about people like me, who generally stay fucked up all day and it ends up destorying relationships. Anyone who knows me will say I'm a nice guy sober or thrashed, and I generally act the same.

I've never really understood this, my girlfriends and other friends never complained about my antics, but I've heard of this type of stuff destroying families/relationships.

How is this so in your case/advice?

My girlfriend and I both smoke, drink, and do drugs together, although both of us are only addicted to the cigarettes. I find it VERY attractive when I have a girl I can be totally honest with my habits around, and I find relationships where you can't share that kind of shit pretty unfufilling.

I was going to make a witty comment about my SO being a sex addict, but I'm not sure if that's really be a good thing.

I have/had somewhat of an alcohol problem.

I'd say its a huge irritation factor.
As I always do stuff that seem very clingy or stupid afterwards.

So I stopped.
But then again, I was drunk when I decided to stop.
And alcohol causes me to do dumb things right?

*pours another one.
Cheers!

My boyfriend doesent have addictions as such, but he does have..obsessions.
They change, depending on his mood, but once he's fixated on something, that's it till he gets bored. When I first met him it was Magic cards, then it was bokkens and martial arts gear, then psychology ect ect now he's fascinated by Economy and suddenly has economy books and papers all over the place.
It's not really a problem, allthough he does get a bit intense at times, and it sucks that he generally doesent get fixations on the same things as I do,because often the things he gets addicted to, such as Economy,or english politics, are either too complicated for me to grasp or too uninteresting for my tastes.

I figure in any relationship, even if you hate your partners addiction, you cant hate them for it. Chances are if it's a damaging addiction they're doing it for some deep reasons and shit,so if you pressure them about it and make them worse, you may end up making things worse.

My woman is addicted to sex. And we have alot of conflicting scedule issues so we can't always be together so I am gettin her a vibrator for Christmas.

And she complains to me that I am addicted to cars and my truck and that i spend more time with my truck than her but my truck doesn't complain about it at all.

My girlfriend is addicted to ecstacy, antidepressants, and all kinds of pain pills. I support responsible drug use but she almost died over the weekend and it hurts. I gave up weed (big deal) if she would stop popping pills. She scares the hell out of me, because she has had some traumatic shit happen to her (best friend, gun to head, on video, said its her fault) so lots of addiction potential.

My last girlfriend had major issues with my drinking/drug habits. After about 2 months of being with her I decide to quit drinking, that led to a dramatic decrease in my drug use as well.

That was all about 6-7 months ago. Since then I have gotten drunk three times, although I use all sorts of pills occasionally and smoke weed everyday. Drinking was always a major problem for me, it caused me alot of problems. I'm glad I did all that shit, not only for her, but for myself it taught me alot what I can do.

Since then we've broken up and I still haven't hit the bottle yet. However I will be moving into a new apartment soon, and I have a feeling I might start drinking again. I'm not too scared for myself, I know I can beat it and if I can control it I should be ok.(right?) However if she finds this out, she'll flip out, even considering the relationship we have now(broken one). I don't really get too angry at her about it, I know she cares, but seriously its my life and my body, and sometimes I think about why I quit in the first place, and why she couldn't love me for who I am.

My boyfriend is addicted to comic books.

Every day I get to hear about Batman and Deadpool and how Fantastic Four sucks.

I'm just hoping that an increase in nerdiness will cause a proportional increase in libido.

My ex was an alcoholic and in my opinion, alcoholics are the worst breed of addicts. Anyone who was raised by alcoholics knows what I mean.

I personally have a little bit of a pill problem, but I find that it's easy to hide. More people are turned off by my cigarette habit anyway, at least with pills I can feign legitimacy.

No SO at this time, but previously my smoking (both cigarettes and teh reefer) have destroyed my relationship. Which was fucked up, to say the least, seeing as the girl didn't even have any reason to dislike it. But meh, time heals all wounds, and I'm glad I picked pot and smokes over her at this point.

Yeah the cig habit seems like a huge turn off for some people. Like its some sort of judge of character if a person smokes cigarettes or not.

I hated being put in the "drugs/alcohol vs me[as in your significant other]" position.

I have a heavy addiction to caffeine... the girlfriend doesn't have any dependencies to speak of.

Rather depends on the type of alcoholic and their character. I see a lot of dope smoking bad parents.

The one girl I loved more than anyone else, in a way than i loved anyone else, had been caught with coke and went hard against it while I dated her, but got into it shortly after.

Last girl I dated was pretty much an alcoholic, and an anorexic (which is a sort of addiction). So was the last i referred to, i suppose.

Both smoked.

Edit: I do xanax and oxy whenever I can, drink about 4-5 nights a week. Smoke weed every day, about a pack plus a day.
