Would you/have you ever call someone cute/pretty/handsome that wasn't, just to be nice?

My cousin maybe, because she throws blunt objects at people when pissed.

Indefinite menstruation, my good sirs.

Of course. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, has that time in their life where they're just to goddam drunk, high, horny, or some combination thereof, and have to get some from that ugly bitch. Thats when.

I always do that. In fact, I make a valiant effort of never complimenting attractive women, as they already hear it more than they need to on a regular basis. Pretty/sexy/hot girls hear how attractive they are from pathetic, groveling males all the time. They also pretty much figure they're attractive based on the amount of guys that hit on them.

So, I take every chance I can to let an attractive girl know how truly ugly/fat/plain I find her. Just to kinda help balance things out.

And, on the contrary, since I feel bad for ugly chicks, I compliment them all the time. They're the ones who truly need to hear it.

short answer: yes, it's called lying.

anyways, if it makes them feel good, sure w/e, and if it has NO adverse affects on yourself, go for it. im sure you wont be the first ti lie to him or her anyways (in my case, her).

what ticks me off is when they're fishing for complements by saying "no, im not pretty" and they expect you to respond with shit like "you are pretty, you shouldnt doubt yourself"...

its even worse when you're lying to make them feel better and they fish for complements and are obviously ugly..

Girl: I'm so not as pretty as that other girl.
Me: You're still nicer than she is... Sometimes.

Girl: I think I might be gaining a bit of weight.
Me: Yeah, you should probably do something about that.

Girl: Do these pants make my ass look too big?
Me: Don't worry, I'm sure no one will notice.

Seriously, I fucking hate compliment fishing.

If they're fishing and I don't see any downside.

I have a hard enough time telling someone that is that they are. No way I'd tell someone who isn't they are.

Edit: As the post above, I try to avoid it. I hate when girls ask things like "Do you think I'm hot?" when they aren't.

No. I generally try avoid the question as tactfully as possible. Part of this is because I don't like lying, and the other part is that I can be very unconvincing in my lies if I feel forced into them. And an unconvincing "no, you're pretty..." is probably more insulting than saying nothing at all.

Unless they are my close friend, then you kind of have to lie... And then I'm quite motivated to make the lie as convincing as possible. And then after that I go on about their good personality traits to inflate their ego more, so they leave me alone and are satisfied.

Never done, never will.

Not even if the person actually does look good/cute.

If they aren't but need the pick-me-up then yeah.

If they're good looking, fit or hot but they know it and play on it then I'll say "Meh...You're alright I guess."
I'd also add "Wouldn't be my first choice but I guess after a couple beers" if they bite the bait!

Neg hits, guys...Works wonders at times.

I hate when people assume that a girl is fishing for compliments when she says she's not pretty. If someone brings up the subject of whether I'm attractive or not, (saying like, what do you think jacqueline is on a scale from 1-10) I'll just say, no, don't say it. Or if someone is about to call me pretty or compliment me, I'll ask them not to say it. I really do not want to hear it.

As for the lying bit, I just avoid the question completely. If I can't avoid it, then I'd tell them straight out that they're not cute/pretty/handsome.

Someone gave the OP a compliment, and (s)he's doubting it's veracity.
