Default I need some practical advice here

Okay I would have posted this in my "friends zone" indiactor thread but I wanted a fresh thread with people reading my original post.

Background Scenario

This girl I started talking to a few months ago has become a really cool person for me. We've taken some brief opportunities to get to know one another and we genuinely have a lot in common, more than I usually do with people (not just girls).

Just going of some of the more helpful advice in the friend zone thread. She will regenerate conversation with me if things go quiet and she laughs at anything even lighty amusing I say.

She's also pretty much demanded that we met up on weekends and have drinks (which didn't happen the first time we wanted it to due to poor planning).

Another thing is she's called me a nice guy...now I all hear you say "yup you've lost there" but she likes the nice guys, she's a total bitch (hawt) to guys that she doesn't consider to be nice.

She's said I'm smart, that I'm funny and awesome or whatever...but as to date nothing really about how I look, although one time she said looks don't matter she's after personality.

My Problem

I don't know whether she really likes me or not, as in wants to take what we have further.

I want to know put simply. I can't very well just ask her can I? Well I could but I'd rather pick up on any definate signs she gives me or me showing her I like her. She'd give it to me straight though a yes or no, and if it were a no it definately wouldn't change how we are currently (well it probably would as in a little bit of my nervousness around her would disappear in knowing).

The only thing putting this doubt in my head is the fact that there are some whispers (she hasn't said anything) that she's with this older guy I know. I don't want to ask him though cause he is a bit of a cunt (but is a charmer around girls he is after).

So what can I do to figure out where I stand? We are going to have our drinking session this weekend, I predict it will come out in the wash then as to where we both stand with one another?

Just a little footnote of information, she's invited me to a few things she has planned in the future. Initially I think "yes, awesome" but I would have thought a girl would be hesitant and shy about asking an interest to do things, especially this early on and for a few things pre-planned. I dunno though. Your take on this all?

she likes you
simple
shes making plans for you two in the future!
you're in mate!
i wouldn't worry about it so much because so far she sounds nice and interested in you, and if she is taking you for a ride she is the one that has to live with herself afterwards
well at least thats how i take it...my conscious has complete control over my mind so i can't handle guilt

Thanks bagel = delicious snack

Let me ask, are you a guy or girl? I'm just wondering and trying to figure it out from that one post is proving a challenge.

You seem familiar. You're Australian right? I think I've seen or heard that and I thought it was odd because I'm an Aussie myself and I've never really encountered bagels :p

I'd say she definately likes you. Who cares if she is 'supposedly' going out with some older guy, when I first met my girlfriend, I had heard she was going out with this older guy, but well, I'm me, so onwards I went! Now we've been going out for 2 1/2 months :)

My advice:
Go to this party, do a bit of drunking (for the love of God, don't get smashed) and get at a good level of buzzed. You know what I mean, that super chatty stage, but not drunk. Talk to her, but don't stalk her through the night, talk to other people too.

I'm not sure what the setting of this party is, if you are going home, if you drive and aren't drinking, if you are going to be taking her home (go for the win here!), whatever.

Try and get her on her own, sit down and chat up a storm (hopefully), try and walk her home. This is where the not being drunk part is crucial, she must realise you aren't drunk! Andd.....
Drum roll..
(you finish it)

Footnote: sorry if this is incoherent.

Normally I'm fairly good at picking out stuff like this, but this ones a toughy.

Just go to those drinks with her, try get more buddy buddy and more close (but not too obvious. Have a few drinks first so she might think "oh its just the booze" so shes unsure if you're fully trying to crack onto her. It doesn't really sound sensible in writing, but I know what i mean).

But just go for it man. She sounds like a good chick, so even if you ask her and she says no, as long as you don't act creepy or desperate it should go back to the way it was

Does she know of your... Horrible secret?
I ain't talking no hairy ass crack, I'm talking your preference towards x box rather than PS2!?

Anyways, she sounds into you but... Maybe a bit too? From my experience, when you start flirting around with a girl and you've got a feeling maybe there's something going on... I've never experienced that the girl just makes plans to do this and that. I mean usually the girl waits for the guy to show interest by taking the initiative right?

I suspect there's a slight chance she just likes you as a friend. Sorry to be a killjoy but I just don't want you to be disappointed, she does sound like a cool enough girl after all.

Have you tried asking her on a date yourself? Like if there's a good movie you say casually "we should totally go see that". Just see if it feels like a romantic date or a friendly thing.

Also the alcohol thing sounds like an idea.

Ask her. It is the only way to be certain. Ask her if she would like to be in a relationship, if she just wants to have fun etc etc. Find out what she wants in the relationship side of things. If you do it with taste she wont be offended and it will quite clearly show that you are interested.

If it comes out that she isn't actually interested then it means you dont get all emotionally evolved and get your hopes up.
