Try and avoid anything to do with your ex - cut them out of your life completely, no IM/Myspace/Texts so on so forth, cut out any reminders you have (photos etc), and simply move on as best you can in order to help your mind move on as well. Immerse yourself in friends, hobbies, work etc and keep yourself busy.

What he/she does doesn't matter anymore. You're going to go and lead your own life, as they are theirs. Your path together has ended, go your separate ways and don't look back, ever - what they were to you was an experience, a lesson, learn from it and concentrate on your personal gain from it and look ahead at your own, personal future.

This is true...I was living in that dream world for about a week after I got dumped...As soon as I moved out, I was like "Fuck it...Would I want the communist bitch back? Nope...Time to move on and enjoy all this money I'm making!"

It will only get easier with time. But to take the edge off of it, I recommend going ona bender lasting no more than two weeks. Start on a thursday. Your wallet and gpa can suffer for two weeks (make sure you get SOME shit done) and get all your favorited drugs and just go nuts.

So will having a huge vent sesh with a close friend, and making sure you go out a lot with friends... lots of different people. Not necessarily close, people you aren't intensely emotionally attached to, it helps you relate to people better in a lese intense way.

We've been broken up since the end of June. So about three months. It was a five-odd year relationship and a very intense one at that. We did a lot of growing up around each other. At least I did, so I tended to use her as a part of my personality, i.e. talking about stuff 'my girlfriend does'

Anyway, yeah. I'll give it time. It really hurt today, but I just reminded myself to go slowly.

Maybe when I'm in Vegas I'll find some random horny drunk girl at the pool... That'd be nice.

All depends on how deep the feelings still are. In my case she's (or so I've been told) afraid I'll kill them. It is a tactic that can work, the whole threatening-beating-eviscerating thing to keep other guys away, but if she doesn't want you back its just a waste of your time. I would wait and see, she might miss you after trying to date new people. Give it a week with as little drunk dialing as possible and call her (sober) and ask her if she feels like hanging out. It's all you from that point.
