I was questioned by police today....
While questioning me they asked for my religion. I was curious if anyone knew WHY they asked? How is my religion(or lack thereof) of ANY importance?

Well they were probably trying to find any motive possible for you shoplifting. Some religions may promote shoplifting or some shit idk. Or maybe its just a gay standard regulation to ask for religion.

I am thinking the cop wanted you to admit you/your family were religious so he could go into a tirad about 'Thou shall not steal'. Doubt its common practice when questioning a subject to find out their religion, he just wanted to make you feel like shit if you were to admit to being religious in any way. Just normal cop bullshit.

he was refering to: treat others, as you would like others to treat you
i got into a 'conflict' with one of my peers,

You got caught shop lifting? Don't you stupid kids have feet anymore? I remeber when I was a little assshat, almost got caught twice - both times someone approaching me as I get to the exit and saying something to me. BOLT! Nothing like running through an entire mall parking lot, dashing across a busy street to catch a bus as it pulls up to the stop.
That diskmen was soo worth it.
