So we bought our first house!
My husband and I have finally found our dream home and now we're buying it! Or we're going to officially buy it on October 29.:P It's going to be such a relief to get out of on base housing and into our own place. The only thing that has sucked about the whole process is the MASSIVE amount of paperwork we've had to do. Also, we're having to constantly either meet with our real estate agent or the bank people. It's pretty cool, though. We're buying a two story house with hardwood floors and a fireplace! It also has a really big yard, which will be nice for my kid and the dog. It's in a really nice neighborhood and in a different county with better schools. My husband claims he will split logs for firewood and THAT I would like to see.:P

Re: So we bought our first house!
Gratz, yo. Chances are, we'll be living in shitty apartments for the rest of forever.

Re: So we bought our first house!
When I was your age, I thought that too. It seemed like we would NEVER escape base housing, which is about as run down and ghetto as it gets.(At least here at Fort Gordon)

Re: So we bought our first house!
I'm glad things are getting better. If I recal you werent having a great time a while back?
If you're getting a house off base will that mean more freedom for you? That would be cool.
Edit: Allthough, I imagine living in a force base would be hella safe. I'd certainly prefer living in one of those were there a zombie outbreak than even my fortified urban tower block.

Re: So we bought our first house!
This is only a bit relevant..
When my family finally moved out of apartments and bought a house, it felt really good to not have to ring the apartment bell in 7:00am for missing the school bus. Also, my bus stop was in front of my house.
Then we moved to a bigger house, when my dad's business became successful.

Re: So we bought our first house!
I only remember living in an apartment for a very short time in my life when my family was between houses. Maybe just after my father left.
I've always lived in a house, in suburbia no less.
But hey, the way my life is going at the moment I think it's going to be crummy arpartments for a while.
Congrats on getting your new home hunny bun, I hope you're really truely happy there. POst pictures of it when you get the chance!

Re: So we bought our first house!
I've lived the majority of my life in apartments. Not terribly ghetto, just apartments that you can tell used to be really nice but have since gone to hell. Then again, I live in Dallas, with a big minoritypopulation.. so they get a little run-down, price lowers, they move in.. 10 years later they're tearing 'em down due to crime! you know how it goes. but yeah up until about 4 years ago I was apartmenting it up. Not too bad, but it really sucks knowing anyone can just walk by your window, bust a hole in some sheetrock and be in your place. it sucks kinda. Congrats on the house, jew!
