Opinions and Ideas - Also some Rules
I'm going to preface this by saying that these rules are here to help the forum users; if you find them too overbearing and stifling, please post in this thread. These are not rules that I intend to set without the blessing of the forum.
- No begging for money. This isn't SG, HB, or B&M; that means, if I catch you making worthless posts that beg for money and have no content it will be constituted as spam and you will receive a 10-day ban. Sorry to be so harsh on this one but I want to clean this forum up and give it the love it deserves. Post your bullshit threads in one of the other forums.
- No scams. There is an infraction 'cause' that fits scams perfectly; it's against totse rules so don't do it. Take it to Bad Ideas, if you must, and it may be tolerated there. It will not be tolerated here. This forum is for discussion of real money and real ways to make money, not theft.
- If you post a referral link, post a generic link as well. This should go without saying. Personally, I'm of the opinion that we should have a subforum for making money online. I think the main forum should be reserved for discussion of real-world ways to make significant amounts of money. We can discuss that in this thread.
That is all I've got off the top of my head. I'd really appreciate it if everyone would read and respond to these. If you think they need changed or added to, let me know by posting here. This forum is a group effort and I want to include everyone. Thanks.

Good call. I second it. Any objections to this? I'd like to close all such threads if everyone agrees that it's OK.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
What does everyone think about a single thread for making money online? Each post could contain a link to the site with a short review....
Or perhaps a subforum? I personally would like to see this forum grow away from making money online and into something more mature.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
I've got some suggestions...
I agree that you should lock threads that ask how to turn small amounts of money into large/ridiculous amounts regardless of whether Bruno is going to break their legs or not.
I also agree with the sub-forum idea, because with one thread, even a sticky, it'll be too big for most people to read through, and people will post without reading it because they don't think there's anything worth reading in it. So if you see an online moneymaking thread, instead of pointing out the thread, you can say that we have a whole damn forum for it.
A sub-forum would clean up the main forum considerably.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
My dilemma is, would any posters be left for the main forum? We're pretty low-traffic.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
Maybe you could do a test, like make a thread and if it gets to 10 pages in a few weeks, request a sub-forum.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
We have the sticky for turning x amount of money into x amount so that's pretty much a done deal.
I'm liking the idea of the sticky for making money online. I think it should be a little less generic though because there some actual ways that don't involve all the clicking on links and what-not. So my opinion is that we have a sticky called something like "Referral site reviews", or something of that nature. That way people can post sites like that and include their links and normal link and also give a rating out of 10 or something. Then people can quote that and include their rating and link possibly. That would keep all that tidy and you could have in the first post a link to each posts that first identifies a site, might be a bit of work though.
I don't like the idea of a sub-forum for making money online. For one it would be flooded with posts about referral based sites. And it would take too much traffic away from the main forum. Having a sticky would still keep the eyeballers on other threads in the main forum which may lead to replies.
Then any other threads about making money online, such as bobsleds can just go into MMM.
I'd also quite like to see a job sub-forum in MMM. It's been mentioned that it should be merged with Old School but I think it would be more suited here.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
I've been sitting on the idea of a Career subforum, but I don't know that this is the best place. I will talk to Zok about it.
Thanks everyone. Keep posting, I'm trying to run this forum in the best capacity that suits everyone.

I'd like to see that... I'm never sure whether to post stuff like that in MMM or OS, NS, FS. Or maybe it could even be its own forum (which I would mod?!?!?!).

Re: Rules and Suggestions
I would like to suggest that the mods show up at least once every 2 days. I think this would help this forum by enabling a mod to lock threads in a timely manner, also this would help all of Totse by stopping the person spamming in this forum he would not have time to spam the rest of Totse.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
I don't really post here often, but I always thought it'd make sense if the money money money and old skool new skool fool skool forums were merged.
The 2 forums both have low-moderate traffic and have lots of overlapping topics. Given that Totse's currently in a pretty much dead state, a move like this could breath some life into this area of Totse and bring some new posters in.
But not only this, I think it'd be useful to have a combined forum for the 'real world', ya know. Where totse memebers can come in and get advice on what to do in school and work .etc in just one centralised place.

I think that's actually decent idea. A merging of MMM NSOS and bringing in Careers into the description would make for a decent fucking forum.

Re: Rules and Suggestions
Include economics into the forum description? A small change but still. It's basically the only reason I post here. It might attracted a few more people.
All the "how do I maek 2000 buks in 2 dais lol?", scares people off I think. It's the reason I used to ignore this place, even though I had high hopes when it was first made.
I intend to stick around now tho.

Think something should be stickied? or vise-versa.?

Re: Opinions and Ideas - Also some Rules
I'm here now to continue Toraton's legacy. Most of what has been said already I agree with. No scams or get rich quick bullshit. Referral sites limited to a single thread. Serious discussions on money and saving. I would also like the description to include economics as economy minded people usually have saving/investing advice to go along with it. If people want to debate our money system vs other systems like the gold standard than I'm all for it too.
I also feel that you can't just regulate a forum into what you want it to be. A mod's job should include contributing the type of content you'd like to see
Nobody's posted in this thread in a while but keep the suggestions going, people.

Why dont we have a "how to profit from your local pawnshop" or "how to make money as a professional gambler sticky?
