ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
Mods, I know this doesn't belong here but I know this is the only place where I have even the smallest chance of getting a serious reply. Please don't close it until I get at least 1 good answer.
This is so fucking embarrassing... Since this summer, whenver I would wipe my ass after going to the bathroom, there's been a little bit of blood. Actually, it didn't happen every time, but it did most of the time.
It was never a lot of blood, never more than about 2 drops, so I figured I was just wiping too hard/too much (I'm VERY thorough and always make 100% sure I'm clean). It was about the amount that you get when you cut yourself shaving and put toilet paper on it to stop it.
Coincidentally, yesterday evening I told my boyfriend about it and he said I should go to the doctor.
Then this morning, I took a poo and when I wiped the toilet paper was COVERED in blood. It was so much that for a second I thought I had started my period. That scared me so badly that I started shaking and I've been freaking out all day. There hasn't been any more blood since then, but I haven't pooed since then either.
Should I make a doctor's appointment now, or wait till the next time I poo and see if it's that bad again? Could I even go to my regular doctor for something like that, or would I have to go to a specialist? Does anyone have any idea what could be causing it? I won't be able to go to the doctor until at least Friday because of my class schedule, but my boyfriend thinks I should go to the hospital.
I don't have any other symptoms, besides feeling like my butt's been hurting since my poo earlier today, but I think that's mostly a result of how freaked out I am, and now that I think something's wrong that I'm subconsciously causing it to hurt or something like that. It doesn't hurt when I poo or anything.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I've been looking online, and most sites I've found say only to go to the doctor if it's painful or occurs more than once or twice... HELP?!
edit: before anyone asks, I've never had anal sex.

Re: ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
I suggest going to a doctor. Sounds like maybe your rectum has a cut in it or something similar.
Regardless, I suggest you go to the doctor, as no one can diagnose something like that online.

I definitely suggest seeing a doctor.
It might be nothing, but from what I've heard bleeding out of your ass is not good.
sooooo yeah, see a doctor.
might be colon cancer, but it's not that usual in girls. Or a tear in the anal lining.

Re: ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
Make an appointment with your doctor. He/she will probably first check for hemorrhoids. They might even do a small scope-like procedure. If no hemorrhoids are found then they will probably recommend you have a sigmoidoscopy or a colonoscopy to find out if you have polyps or ulcers.
what's a sigmoidoscopy? it sounds painful.

This has happened with the missus at least once in the last year... just random ass-bleeding...
She didn't do anything and it stopped almost immediately.
In your case though, something IS bleeding inside of you.
Go to the doctor.
You may have some sort of ulcer condition or something like that. Do you drink a lot? Any sorts of dietary oddities?

Yeah, as embarrassing as it is, I've been in the same situation. I went to the doctor, he put his finger in my butt, and told me I had a tear on the inside of my ass. Apparently, my few and far between shits would be a little bit too large.

It can be painful for some people. They will probably offer you some drugs.

Sounds like you got a case of the piles.
I've had that before...When I was 19, I took a dump and there was a load of blood in the bowl. Nothing serious.
But yeah, go and and get it seen to just in case.

i don't drink at all. besides the fact that i'm addicted to popcorn and i eat it almost every day, i have a pretty normal diet.
could it be the popcorn seeds cutting up the inside of my ass? i chew them before i eat them, but they could be kind of sharp...

Yeah same. Minus the finger in my butt part.
I had to change my diet completly.
Which was for the better, of course. It just took some getting used to.

No, but i listen to loveline from time to time, and i that question been asked before. The doctor on there recomends going to the doctor(a specialist) as soon as possible because there can be complications if not treated as soon as possible.......like death.

Re: ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
Maybe. You should probably not eat those seeds.
And if you sniff the bag before eating it, stop.
http://www.defendingscience.org/Diacetyl-Background.cfm
Diacetyl (fake butter flavoring), as a vapor causes bronchitis obliterans, which is at least as scary as it sounds. It's also called popcorn lung, or popcorn workers' lung, because that's who usually gets it, but people who eat the stuff all the time and smell the buttery smell too can get this as well. It causes you to not be able to exhale properly. And die.
Just stopping eating the fake butter popcorn would probably be best. The manual pop, unflavored kind is still alright as far as I know.

Doctor. If there was blood INSIDE the poop, something is really wrong. If it was just on the outside/toilet paper then you've either got a hemorrhoid or some odd bleeding. Not to make things sound worse than they are.

I'd probably wait and see if it happened again before going to a doctor, but I'm an idiot, so don't do that.
Maybe it's an anal fissure? Although those are supposed to be really painful...

Re: ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
Two serious questions...
what color is the blood? is it frank (bright red or obvious red blood) or is it that sort of clotted blood color? Frank Rectal bleeding is more often than not either a Hemorrhoid or anal fissure. Anal fissure is a concern mainly because of the risk of infection which can lead to systemic septicemia. Hemorrhoids are not too much of a problem unless they become painful. Both are relatively easy to treat! If the blood is a dark and clotted color it may be more serious, then you're looking at a more internal problem! Rectal fissure or some type of rectal ulcer. these are the most likely explanations. either way a visit to the doc makes good sense!

i don't sniff the bag. i only eat light butter, but i might switch to no butter now.
but i pooed this morning and there was no blood, so hopefully it was just a one time thing.

Re: ummm... i have a problem. a very personal one.
I doubt its anything to worry about,
take it easy ffs, you need some fruit, veg and fibre, to soften yourself up, or alternatively diaorrehea (sp) inducing pills. Then keep it clean and it should heal okay. give it a few days and you should be fine if you take my advice.

In that case its most likely anal fissure or a hemorrhoid. Not really too much to panic about. Like I said, your biggest worry is an infection. it's very easy for a small amount of feces to get into the tear and cause a bit of a problem. We look at rectal bleeding as a problem in the cases I already outlined and in cases where the bleeding is continuous. In your case it doesn't appear that way. The only other thing I can add that may be really helpful is that Hemorrhoids, if serious, are usually fairly painful. In your case, you said that there's no pain, which makes me think its more likely anal fissure and not a serious one yet! It won't do any harm to go see a doctor. However your local pharmacist could be just as helpful!
Hope this helped you out!

Sounds like a minor rupture in your anus. If you see a doctor you'll either be recommended some medicine, a different diet or a minor operation, depending on how bad it is.

Bright red? As in arterial red?
Do you abuse laxatives at all? Do any strenuous excersize?
Have you managed to get to doctor yet? It's friday now but I'm not sure which one.

I sorta have the same problem, but this is a cut on my ass, like right smack on the hole. It's no internal problem, just a cut in a visible area. Idk if it will just "heal" though, because everytime i take a dump i think it might be "stretching" it back open. I guess I should see a doctor too?
