have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
OK...now I know most people will automatically say something like 'well you're obligated to tell who ever you're sleeping with that you have.....' and some other shit on morality...
I got HPV from my ex....apparently 70-80 percent of younger people have it...it has no real effect on men, other than them being carriers. it could cause cervical cancer in women, if untreated. there is now a vaccine for women.
im conflicted on if i should tell every girl i get intimate with that i have it.....i'm 26, im in university, greek (frat)....I hang around in groups where people fuck a lot....so im sure a lot of the people id be fuckign probably already have it. Ive never tested positive for it, i dont think theres even a test for it in guys.... but my ex did test positive for it....so she had it, and we screwed a lot, unprotected.
i asked the doctor what i should do...she was a female btw....she said to not even tell any of my partners about it...everyone has it.....i feel morally conflicted about that though.
its made me almost not want to try to go out and get laid, because i know i'll probably be drunk when shit goes down...and will be thinking with the wrong head. and def wont tell. so for some reason i'm asking totses opinion, which is probably mostly the opinion of virgin 15 year olds....
anyways....what is your opinion on how to deal with this one?

Just always use protection.
I really think you should tell them, but that is your choice. If it were me, I'd be extremely upset to find out later rather than sooner.

Your doctors an asshole.
And I doubt "everyone" has it. You should tell whoever in case they don't want your shitty disease. Why should they Catch something they probably don't want? Who gives a fuck if a lot of people have it or not, that isn't the point.
Didn't the doctor fucking realise that maybe tons of people wouldn't have it if assholes like her didn't just go "I won't tell anyone =]!".
Please, kill her for me.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
HPV is not harmless it can cause genital warts in some people. And protection is not safe sex.... it's safer. You're lucky that p wasn't replaced with an i. I know that your young and fucking is fun but if you go out and get drunk and not tell someone then you are part of the damn problem. Next time it might be something really bad like knocking some chick with aids up. How would you like to have a child you know is going to die? And I know it's not fun but masterbation while lonley and boring is much better then having to tell every partner you're with. And if you can find a person to have a sexual relationship then explain it to them. Find someone with hpv and have a fuck buddy relationship. If almost "everyone" (by the way i don't have it and sure as fuck don't want it. most of the people i know don't have it but some do. it is one of the most common stds) has it then it shouldn't be so hard. Having urges is not wrong but acting upon them irresponsabily is. It may be too late to cure you but you can stop someone elses life from being shitty. And if your doctor said that then we have a major problem with the health system (more so then previously listed) And if nothing else wrap your shit. Be responsable.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
How do you ^^^ know they don't have it? Have they had Pap Smears?
If their sexings have always (Hah!) been safe? Have their oralings always been with protection? I know it's in 'bad taste' to mention oral transmission? So I won't. 'Cause that would imply that while in general their genitals were HPV free? That their mouths may be not so...
Knowing people, that if that was true? You still might be very offended that someone might even imply that that might be true. So, again, I won't. :)

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
Would you want someone to tell you if they were carrying something?
Even if you wouldn't, you still have a responsibility to tell them, unless you're just an asshole.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
Yes, from any perspective you take that has you being a person of any worth, yes, you should tell anyone you plan on fucking about it.
With HPV, honestly, chances are they already have it anyway so no worries.
Again, with HPV, there is a vaccination that will prevent a large percentage of the cervical cancer causing varieties called Gartisol. You'll have to wait a bit to fuck her, but this is handy knowledge to have in case you ever find yourself wanting to marry a chick and not have her blaiming you for her constant visits to the painful scrapings to avoid cancer, and her eventual death.
Women can be such bitches about shit like your life of wild hedonism killing her when it could have been easily prevented.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
Haha, 26 year old fratdouche with a STD, lol, etc.
By the way, HPV = Genital Warts.
Genital Warts = http://www2.hu-berlin.de/sexology/ECE4/s_hpv_fem.jpg
And you're just gonna assume that since 80% of women have it, you'll risk giving that to some girl? Granted, she's going to be pretty stupid for you to sleep with her, but still. Kill yourself.

False.
There are plenty of strains of HPV which don't have genital warts as a symptom.
Which isn't to say that it's harmless, it's to say that you should probably do some research on this stuff yourself from credible sources (i.e. not fucking here) especially since, you know, you're going to have it for the rest of your life.

You're morally obligated to tell whoever you're sleeping with that you have STDs...
...after you've stuck it up her pooper, and while you're dick's still in. 'n you're also morally obligated to videotape this and post it on the internet for the lulz.

Seems a pretty straight forward claim of equating one with the other, thus meaning for every case of HPV you also have a case of Genital Warts.
It must be my mistake for thinking that the equal sign meant that the two things on either side of it were equal to each other.
A thousand pardons. Cleary, I'm the retard here.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
all you guys in here might have it and not know it.... it doesn't show up on STD tests, so you wouldnt know unless you have genital warts....and condoms reduce the risk of infection but dont totall prevent it..... so if you've fucked a girl between 17 and 30....theres probably about a 70 percent chance she's got it...and if she's slutty, and she probably would be to sleep with someone from this crowd, the chances just increase.... and the likelihood you having it if you sleep with a lot of girls is almost 100%.
you're all a bunch of diseased degenerates. i'd rather be like you, and not know....ignorance is bliss.

I seriously doubt some of the statistics that you've chucked out there.
But the real problem is your doctor - how many other people is she telling that it's best if you don't tell somebody you've got a STD? Jesus.

I see that you've very nicely implied that you have your own beliefs & you 'believe what you believe'. You've showed that you've never looked at 'Stats' & that you have very little to no interest in seeing any in regards to STD's.
This world needs it's dreamers & luckily? You are one.

Re: have an STD...to tell or not to tell?
random sex ftl.
hpv can cause penile and/or anal cancer in men. it affects at least 50% of sexually active adults acquire it at some point in their lives.
karma will bite you in the ass when you give it to your poor future wife who will die of cervical cancer brought on by the hpv that you gave her.
