Pride
Pride has been my biggest downfall in the dating world and in overall life.
It has held me back and made me unlogically stubborn. It took me many years to figure this out, but at last, I did. And with came a burst of thoughts, ideas, and emotions.
When I get these burst (I do often) I tend to write them out as if so I won't lose them and won't forget them. I cast my pride aside and turned to the girl I love. I gave her what I wrote and made her question her own life. She told me that I meant the world to her.
I casted my pride away finally, and it worked out well.
I was never scared to tell people how I felt, I was just too prideful.
I write this thread here to show my fellows what amazing things can be achieved with a change of thought. I hope y'all take this in and don't make the mistake of grasping onto your pride for too long.
But rather as a mistake, I don't admit mistakes as everything is simply just a learning experience. So actually learn from it.

Re: Pride
How did someone with such poor grammar and limited vocabulary (you used the word pride 5 times) become a mod?

Everyone's a critic. Gotta love it.
I assume your judgment basis off this one post. Read my others before you spout your ignorance here.
I used pride 5 times because this topic is about pride.

Re: Pride
Kudos on the character change for it's something I doubt I'd ever do. Without my pride I'd not be me.
.....oh and one can use hubris as a synonym as well. ^-^

Re: Pride
What a boastfully prideful post about the pitfalls of pride, Bravo!
But I do promote positive perceptual changes, benevolently buoyed or no, but, beware, for the path paved before you bring the persistent proclivity to bring you back to past perspectives, preventing you from the productive purpose you possibly propose as your purpose; potential pretentiously pissed away by penetrating, and permanent proofs of the perpetually proud, but pious, paradoxical post-modern man.
Persevere, lest your ponderings perish.

Re: Pride
im not exactly sure what this post was about....but while we're on the subject of pride, i could use some input on the subject as it relates to sex and affection.
me and my girl split up a little 2 months ago. she ended it. I didn't see it coming at all. we left ob basically good terms. don't hate each other, are friendly when we see each other.
i never totally got over her. but had put her behind me pretty well for a while. recently though she's been on my mind quite a bit. I've been wanting to try to see if theres a chance of anything ever happening again between us. the other night she went to "my" bar...the bar she knows i always go to. my friend told me she stayed an hour and left. it's unlike her to goto that place without a mob of her friends. i may be misreading it, but i'd like to think she was there looking for me.
anyways. I've been wanting to call her, or talk to her or something and see if she wanted to get together sometime, or do something, etc.... but my friend i talk to about this shit said i shouldn't call her or make any overt/obvious actions that indicate im still interested. my friend is rarely wrong when it comes to girls.....he say's that if i do that, and she isnt interested it will just make me look pathetic and i'll lose face...and pride.
I have other friends who say i should suck it up, swallow my pride and see what happens.
im conflicted, and dont know which side to take with this. i'd like to give it another shot with her....but i dont want to come off as a pathetic guy stuck on some girl.
it's been a few weeks now since we've last spoken or seen each other. i was wanting to call just to see how things are going with her, etc....but i know the club she will be at tomorrow night, and some of my friends are going too.... so, well i dont even know.....
so, swallow my pride? or save face?

Re: Pride
I've been reading Dante's Inferno, you might just save yourself from one of the ditches now.
Anyway, any examples of how pride got in your way before?

Yeah...This was what I was gonna ask.
Also, just because you "mean the world to her" doesn't mean she won't cheat on your sorry arse and try to blame it on you. Trust me.

Re: Pride
I know exactly what the OP is talking about, I too have pride issues. If I show emotion it is considered weak for a young male and subconciously in my mind I reject emotion and it turns me into a stubborn asshole. I figured this out already though and when I told my girlfriend she fully understood. She already knew that though... she knows me way too well..

Re: Pride
I don't want to let go of my pride. Like other people said, I don't have much else. I just want to not care what people think about me. Worrying about what people think about me stops me from doing just about everything.

Re: Pride
Pride, i picked up alot of that in the last few months. I take pride in the things i do now since im at that age where everything seems to be working out perfect, as long as no one gets in the way. When people talk shit i dont care cause i compare myself to them usually, shit dont bother me since i know where i stand at.
