Default Jeff! Things for you to do:

1) We're still having problems with account status being updated when we make people moderators. They never earn the title "Moderator" and aren't allowed in this forum. oddballz194 and Aerodynamic are the two mods that come to mind. There's one other, who's name I can't remember (he mods Go Team!).

2) There are a huge amount of threads in the suggestion box and emails in my gmail inbox asking about when registrations will be open. I remember you mentioning something about how registration was causing database errors (along with 10+ page threads) - is there any progress on overcoming this?

3) A number of users have had their accounts deactivated. I'm guessing it is in error. When I look up their accounts in the mod control panel it says that their account status has been changed to "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" and sometimes "Inactive" when the users have been posting actively for years. There have been so many of these problems that I've actually had to start sending out prewritten emails in reply to the frequent queries about broken accounts. If you want, I can post or email you a small list of effected accounts.

4) A group of people in Suggestions Box are determined to write a new skin for vbul that will emulate the old ubb look. They were concerned about whether or not you would use the theme once they make it. They also wanted to know what sort of criteria it must fit. I can imagine that this is the kind of thing that you'd have to cover a lot of details with, so maybe that can be something to think about for the future.

5) A possible security breach is outlined here: http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2064161

I'll add to this list once I think of the other pressing issues. If anyone else knows of something that only Jeff can take care of that needs to be attended to in a timely manner, please post it here. If you don't have anything to add to the list, please don't start conversation here, I want to keep this as concise and easy to read as possible.

Edit: I think the other threads about these issues got buried under the drama. I figured a thread with "Jeff!" in the title would get his attention.

Well I hope this is something that should go here: I would still like the ability to hard delete threads. When we have spam attacks it is hard to see the page with all the soft deletes still on it.

What you can do in the mean time is merge the offending threads together and soft-delete the one. That'll help clean up the forum so that you don't have pages of deleted threads when someone spam-bombs SG.

I would like the ability to check IPs. It seems there are many posters with multiple accounts..too many to pester super mods requesting they be checked all the time.

I think a good middle ground would be to delegate the power to whom the admins can trust with it, not just a simple blanket "Here you go, dont abuse it" to all of us.

Even still, I know I'm going to be rubbing some the wrong way, but I dont think that we should be checking up on IPs of posters without probable cause in the first place. Simple suspicions arent enough for me, not to mention the use of proxies makes it useless.

In such a case, probable cause would be grounds for bans in the first place (posting personal information, spamming, etc) so its a moot point unless you are going to be checking the IPs of everyone. The only case I can think of is that if someone posts a "lol im ban evading" but doesnt spam with that account.

VB gives us too much power.

You know, just because you can look up the IP of someone who posted something, say, last week and compare it to the IP of someone who posted in a recent thread doesnt necessarilly mean that its the same person. Refer to pretty much all defenses against the RIAA/MPAA.

I suppose my dialogue with myself argues against it. ;)

I don't even think you need to check an IP in that case. If someone is stupid enough to say they are evading a ban - whether or not they are - then they kinda deserve a small ban for being so stupid.

Also, if you see someone who is listed as a New Member or Acolyte, yet they talk
and act like they've been around for a long time, you can bet they are evading a ban [Though as long as they are being good posters shouldn't be a big issue. Being good posters is all we really want out of them anyway, right?].

Fix the hot topics. It's leading some of the HB crew to spam my forum. I've given out more infractions today than my entire modship in NA.

Myeh that's a pretty good idea, but would that not end up as just being a case of favoritism?
I dont mean in a corrupt way, but as in a "well XX mod is my friend and I know he's reliable, so I'll give them that power"

Not to be an ass, but...

This thread is for urgent issues. Things that are broken and need to be fixed. We can debate whether or not mods should be able to check IP's in another thread. This thread is for things that must happen without question or things that have already been decided upon. I'll even make a thread (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?p=8987078#post8987078) for it now.

Not sure how crucial this is, but someone posted this in Suggestions: http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2064161

I deleted the post for obvious reasons (don't want to release any major exploits to the public). I'll also stick this link in the OP. In short, it looks like a user SpectraL has figured out how to get into old accounts in totse's DB.

Since you deleted it, I don't think anyone is going to be able to see the thread - I know I can't.

But I did read the thread before you did delete it. I'm not certain that he isn't just trolling. But I do think it bears investigating at least.

It's soft deleted right now so that super mods, mods of the forum, forum admins, and admins can still view it.

Well since it's in the forum formerly known as SB, that would make it MLoR, you, you again - with Acidmelt, and Jeff.**

/mode -smartass

Perhaps you should all stop posting stupid bullshit in Zok's thread before he kills you; you know that if it gets too big then Jeff will be slower to crawl through all the bullshit to the important parts.

In short, don't post here unless you have something important to say to Jeff. Yes, I feel hypocritical, but it needs to be said.
