As a smart person myself, shouldn't women be clamoring over each other to get at my genes. How come being smart isn't as important as let's say...money, or how much one can bench press, in the scheme of things?

The difference between intelligence and muscle mass, in terms of applicable attitudes towards getting laid, is that muscle mass is much easier to see; your brain isn't exactly flexing, and if it does, it is far from sexy.

Women will look at a man with clearly superior muscles structure poking past his tight shirt and see potentialities: to protect her, to survive, to pass on to progeny, etc. etc. This potentiality can be concretely tested through arbitrary physical tasks such as the variety of bench pressing, chin ups, running, and other such things you find in your local high school gym class.

It's observable.

Intelligence being a much more abstracted potentiality, it will take more than your average day's display of events, and most likely, a smarter than average person to pick up on this invisible talent. Which is why, as you yourself mentioned but failed to realize, money has become a big factor besides that of muscle because it is, again, an observable indication of these talents so craved for our offspring. Presumably, if you are of a high intellect, you should be able to manipulate the chain of events that comprise your life in order to place you at a position of power (i.e. with money)

Long story short: don't confuse intelligence with good grades. Women want more than good genes for a potential good kid; they want a good life too.

People generally need to get to know me before they can appreciate my personality, and I'm far from guaranteed to share similar interests with most people, anyways. If they like the way you think, they'll probably tell you, in some way? Other than that, maybe develop some of your more "shallow" features, so you have more confidence in those, and separate sex from emotion and not worry about relationships for now? If you're still in highschool, you really can't expect too much from your peers, IMO. A good intellectual connection takes a while to build, and doesn't come around all too often, either.

It's just a personally baffling feelling, seeing these people out at lunch, I myself with my own group of friends they with theirs.

I spend a lot of time reading and writing philosophy, and recently french. A lot of my contemporaries find a lot of things in both of those fields pretentious; of course a lot of my contemporaries are idiots.

The point is that I'm not really paying attention while I write here, most of the times it's when I'm drunk or medicated and headed to bed.
