Default Homework Help Subforum in Old School, New School, Fool School

Since the school year has started, users will be making threads for others to help with homework. I think this is a great networking tool, but don't want to litter the forum with "OMG PROOF MY ESSAY!!!" So, I propose a Homework Help subforum.

Questions? Comments? Criticisms?

I don't know, we don't really get that much traffic to begin with, do you really think a sub-forum just for homework is needed?

I thought school work was already covered under the description of Fool School?

I think it would be a good addition.

Would it be better to include it clearly within the forum description, or to have a subforum?

I think a clear description would make more sense, a subforum just seems tacked on.

No, it would be fitting. It would separate people asking for help with homework from the talk of education.

If I wanted help with science homework I'd post in Mad Scientists. If I wanted help with English homework I'd post in Eat Your Words. If I wanted help with drama homework I'd post in M&A (;)).

OSNSFS doesn't really have particular specialisations apart from education, and although there would always be a couple of people who knew how to help with one subject or another I don't think it'd be a very useful subforum (nor one that would get much traffic).

Then again, you guys mods it, so I don't think that counts for much :p

Certainly true for language homework. There have always been such threads in CL.

I might be out of touch but since when do totseans actually do their homework?! Surely the time could be better spent planning world revolution or smoking whatever drug you crazy kids smoke these days?

Forums tend to close threads asking for help with their homework, outside of SG. Although, maybe that was just Printed Matter; I don't look in the math, science, or computer forums too often.

I don't think it would hurt to have it in one place for anybody willing to offer help or advice.

That's what I was thinking; I was under the impression that other forums didn't like homework help threads. It would consolidate all the help threads, and bring more traffic to OSNSFS.

I don't know about that; if the questions get too specific (like the music theory threads we get in AR&R) I think users will just respond with the "you should go ask in the *blank* forum".

I'm with Happyjoe on this one, although if you and Euda wish to have one made then that's fine with me.

BTW, is everyone ok with this new description:

"This forum encompasses all aspects of education and schooling from the Junior High to the Ivy Tower. Discussions include, but are not limited to, teachers and professors, classes and grades, admissions and financing, campus life and student body, graduating and dropping out, how to write neat or how to effectively cheat. As a wise man once said: As your body grows bigger, and your mind grows flowered; it's great to learn, 'cause knowledge is power! "

Yay/nay?
