At first i was skeptical but after some reading i found out that limes were very acidic and neither sperm or STD's (even HIV) can't survive in acidic environments.

I don't know about any of that, but here is what I do know about limes.

If I drink a 6-pack of Corona and each one has a lime in it....... I wake up the next morning, and no problems.

However if I drink that same 6-pack of Corona with NO lime in it, I wake up the next morning with this taste in my mouth as if a Mexican took a shit in it.

For lime juice to work as a microbicide it's got to be in about a 50% concentration (50:50 with water which, to soak a human in a tub IS a lot of lime juice) HOWEVER if you use more than 50%, the acidity can cause abrasions inside the woman thus leaving her more susceptible to get (and pass on) infections.

They've used this kind of technique to try to stop the spread of AIDS in Africa and the like but that's simply because of lack of other available resources.

It also seems that if you want to use it as a spermicide you're looking at soaking your girl for at least 30 minutes. Add to this the fact that she would have to get this juice inside her within 1 1/2 MINUTES of him cumming before it was potentially out of reach.

The fact is, the more acidic, the more effective AND 50% seems to be the point at which it becomes dangerous to the skin therefore for maximum effectiveness it SHOULD be 50%.

The 30 minutes rule wasn't meant to be referring to using it as a spermicide, more as a microbicide, that was my bad. And yes, it has been shown to take up to 30 minutes to break down certain STDs present in semen when using 50% diluted solution and that's to a 90% effectiveness level.

In addition, these methods involve a sponge or the like placed IN the vagina for several minutes before and/or directly after sex...not some half arsed soak in the tub like this kid was referring to.

Adding to this the particular STD we're talking about is one of the hardest ones to protect against because of the possibility of skin to skin contact in affected areas so the spermicide method would need to be used in conjunction with another method to protect the outer more exposed skin.

Fact of the matter is, we have MUCH better methods for contraception and protection from STDs so encouraging this as any kind of alternative is irresponsible.
