So I just realized yesterday that I seriously hate my best friend.

We always talk and we have these deep conversations, which is good. But our mutual interest in meaningful conversations and our inside jokes are the only thing we have.

Being a douchebag has always been the way he is, and it was funny and whatnot... until I realized that he's just a bitter asshole. I don't want to be around him anymore. I think he actually cares about what happens in my life, but only so he can analyze and pick apart all of my mistakes. I'm tired of it. He acts like he's some god of reason, and preys on other people. It used to be funny, and now it's just sad.

My problem is that I see him too much, and if I tell him to fuck off I will have to see him every fucking day.

I had this very problem some 10 years ago, with this little bastard who thought he was the only one who "gets it" and everyone else was an idiot.

He was the lowest of the low. He used to have a great social life, good at basketball, and just a cool guy overall. 7th grade started, and he suddenly lost all interest in women, sports, and everything else he used to rave on about.

He turned in a no-life loser, who classified himself as a genius and looked down on others (often getting himself in a fight [Which he always lost], trouble, and danger).

He was quite literally a nerd with no life. Would go straight home, close all windows and shut himself in his dark room listening to some bullshit japanese music and playing computer games.

His grades were bad (they always were), he lost 99% of his friends and acquaintances, and often ranted on about him being the best at everything, understanding the world and being always right.

Stopped hanging out with him, it just made me look bad being seen with him and I felt sorry for him, becausehe lost a great (well, kind of) life he once had as a pre-pubescent kid.

That's middleschool horrors for you.


To this day, at the age of 24, he is unemployed and still living with parents.

I am the loser in this story, and no i'm not joking, i have a few close friends and hold them dearly, i make fun of them honestly and im often blunt and sort of crude when i criticize them or make fun of them. maybe your friend has a problem like mine, he is just too honest and it gets him in trouble because I get in trouble for stupid things like that. However it may be his own insecurities he is most afraid of so he points out other flaws in people so people dont spot his own.

I was in situation like this a few years ago. Start making excuses if he wants to hang out with you that night say that you have plans with someone even tho all your planning on doing is sitting home and watching tv. Get busy, go out more, make new friends and slowly but surely start hanging out with him less and less. I think making new friends/hanging out more with your other friends could be a key. For quite a while I was hearing from my former best friend wanting to hang out but he eventually got the message when I told him that I was always busy with my other friends.

To an extent. If you're criticizing your friends then you're basicaly expressing dominance. Everything humans do is about fitting (or not fitting) into the social dominance heirarchy. You're just trying to put them in their place thorugh subtle acts of aggression. Nothing really wrong with it. Your friends might get pissed at you, but this actually usually ends up being a good thing, as reconciliation between males often ends on a good note and leads to a stronger bond. You both have now settled your positions, for the time being. The dominance heirarchy is free-flowing. This information is mostly useful for young adults and under. As one grows further into the adult world the primal dominance heirarchy gradually subsides since males and females disintegrate into their family units.

One more thing to add that might help some of you out: the most successful of the heirarchy always use a combo of social/aggressive behavior. By calculating aggressive behavior when the situation calls for it (to talk down a guy who cut in line ahead of you, for example) you are raising your status and making yourself more appealing to bitches (and that's what life's all about, isn't it? When you get down to it?). So some of you, it sounds like, are just being aggressive for the sake of venting your frustrations. This is not a good thing for your status, because it shows you lack a high social IQ or have an unhealthy mental state. Don't drive your allies away, especially at your ages. I could go on for awhile, so I'll stop here before I waste any more time.

Some asshole friends are too assholish, and I don't know if that's the case with yours OP but remember this: when you really need a friend, that asshole will have your back when everybody else will be off doing fuck all. Think long and hard about ditching him.

First let me start off: I hate everyone around me, I think 99 percent of people in my state are morons, douchebags, stupid whores and cunts. I hate the people I went to school with, I hate every job I've ever had. Seriously.

Every friendship I've ever ended, I've done with a bang. Just to make sure they never talk to me again. The last person I stopped talking to, I broke into their car 2 weeks later and store over 1,000 bucks of shit out of it. The time before that, it was this stupid girl I was getting sick of putting up with, which I only did to begin with because she had an apartment I could hang out and drink at. I made her feel like a moron, then stopped talking to her. Shortly after that, she lost her apartment, and moved in with a 17 year old's family. Then she moved back to her parents.

My point is, I am the biggest jerk I know and damn proud of it. So here's my advice: If you don't like hanging around people like me, don't. Trust me, I really do not give a shit when people stop talking to me. Because I just don't care about them at all.

I have the same problem. I didn't talk to the guy for about two months, saw him once, and immediately got sick of him. It's now been four months later and we started hanging out again.

For me, maybe not for you, but seriously look at the good things (if anything) you two have done. My friend and I did SO many awesome things, and that is more than worth the slight assholeness he possesses.
