This is an announcement to all mods and admins of totse.com, that we have M&A and #mods for a reason, and there's a reason why these systems of communication are not accessible by non-mods/admins. Privacy and trust are expected here, and if we see that people are releasing information from these areas, we cannot trust that what we say will remain confidential, and among only our administration.

Due to recent events concerning a few of our (former) mods, I am reminding those of you who already know, and informing those of you who wouldn't think this is a given, that NO INFORMATION WHATSOEVER from M&A or #mods is to be shared with the general public. Failure to comply with this IS grounds for removal. If there's something said here that you think should be dispersed to the public, PLEASE clear it with a Super Mod/Admin/Forum Admin first.

Yeah ok...About #mods though...Locked myself out (forgot to identify myself), and even after identifying myself, I couldn't unban myself...Anything strange about that?

I just checked the access list and you are still listed there. Make sure you are using your right name - #mods is fussy about that.

Yoyo, change all of the settings in that addon. Specifically the one that says "RealName" change it to something made up. You might also want to change "Email address" to something made up too. Slashnet automatically bans some of the preset real names and emails in order to prevent bots.

Rabb, if you want to unban yourself, type:

/msg chanserv unban #mods

You can do that from outside of the channel.

As for privacy in #mods, I fully agree. We originally made the channel to replace the administration email list (when we were on UBB). Since there was no email list and no mods forum, mods had no way of relaying info to each other. Because it was made as a replacement for the email list, it shares the same rules about privacy as the email list did (and M&A does now).

If there IS something that you would like to share with the rest of totse without being demodded, just ask the people who were involved in the log before you share it. I do that all the time - just ask "Hey, XYZ would probably want to hear this convo, do you mind if I relay it to him/her?"

As for JBH, I really thought he was a good mod and I would not mind giving him another chance. It just burns me up that he would do that RIGHT after we removed Jeb for similar reasons. It was like he was trying to get demodded - Even Jeb said that he thought it was in poor taste. If it hadn't been for that, I would give him a second chance - especially since it's his first offense ever. But since I wasn't the one who banned him, I'll leave that decision to some other people.

Sure, as I said if I learn how I can try to help. The blind leading the blind indeed, but atleast if something goes wrong it's guaranteed one of us will be able to run away faster.

I'm looking in 'preferences' but I'm not really seeing anything where I can change real name, just knicknames and crap...

I agree with you. It was in poor taste, but he was not trying to be malicious and I guarantee he won't do it again.
