a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
So. I had just found out my girlfriend was fucking some other guy. It crushed me. I was at a party. I got pretty drunk. One of my best friends (girl) who I knew was really into me was also quite drunk. Me, being crushed and needing solaced, asked her if she wanted to fuck. We did. Ever since, we've never been the same.
Flash forward til today. She told me she's always felt like I took advantage of her. I've realized I did. I feel like shit. I want us to be able to be friends again. Gah. I hate alcohol.
Any advice?

Generally, an apology works. Well, up to a certain point anyway.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
You either got 2 options here, and "friends" ain't one of them. You said it yourself, she was always fond of you. For whatever reason you never gave her a chance as a girlfriend, and in the heat of the moment she mistakenly believed having sex with you would open the door. Chances are you woke up the next morning and it went NOTHING like she was hoping for. So either walk away, or give her that chance to hook up with you. But as a friend? Never work, she'll always have that chip and it never will be the same.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
The way I see it, you were both drunk and she did the best thing a friend could do when you're in that situation...Get you laid!
She did it on a more personal note and did it herself.
Apologise for it...You were drunk and emotionally fucked up therefore most of your general rules of relations were thrown to the wind.
It's not like it's never happened before.
Apologise and thank her for being a true friend and making you feel SOOOOO much better and that you'll never forget it ("it" being the favour or the sex...Up to you!)
An apology, thanks and some thickly laid on compliments can do wonders!

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
you didnt take advantage of her. you asked her, she obviously consented.
I would say, said girl has probably had a crush on you or at least thinks your attractive and would have a relationship with you. She feels like you took advantage of her because she was the rebound fuck. Thinks you were just looking at getting your dick wet to move on.
If you want a relationship with her, tell her your feelings. If you dont, still tell her. Just make sure you make it clear to her she wasnt just the rebound fuck, and you care more about her than just a warm wet hole to stick your dick in.
do it smooth-like.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
Man, I know exactly how you feel, that shit's happened to me with my best friend. Let me tell you, you HAVE to talk to her, you HAVE to apologize, do everything you possibly can to make up for it and be prepared to never speak to her again if thats what she wants. And try to keep it between the two of you, not make it public knowledge, thats only gonna make it worse. Trust me on this my friend told people and it fucked my life at school and in general, he just started being friendly recently, Time heals all wound... Do what you can, say what you can and hope for the best these situations are difficult, good luck man.

You were both drunk, correct? You did ask her, she did say yes.. How could you have been taking advantage of her? She probably just was looking for something to blame it on.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
Let's compare two situations:
A.
1. A girl gets drunk
2. She drives a car
3. She gets busted
4. She goes to prison
B.
1. A girl gets drunk
2. She gets laid
3. She feels bad
4. She accuses you of taking advantage
5. You go to prison
Now why is it that in A she is responsible for her actions, but in B she's not!?
My point: It's her own damn fault, you didn't force her to drink and you didn't force her to have sex.
Maybe you should accuse her of taking advantage of your sorrow instead.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
Fuck that shit, id set her straight then rub her name out of existence fuck that shit, if you seriously put the blame on yourself your fucking retarded. dont let some girl talk you into taking some blame like that...Thats why guys are turning to fucking dating tips and saying girls are only out for money, cause theres no fucking REAL men out there thatll set some bitch straight....fucking world is coming to an end, shit like this wouldnt even be close to happening back in past history, guys are letting females get away with murder anymore. Guys are afraid anymore to stand up to their girl verbally, they just sit there "Ok" and be a yes man
But if im wrong in understand disregard that message ^^^^

You were drunk, she was drunk, alcohol takes away responsibility for your actions.

Re: a story of how i took advantage of my best friend; or, it's never been the same
Ok... This was like 10 months ago and she's never told me that she felt taken advantage of until now. Which is kinda why i'm flipping out. And she really was one of my best friends, and basically all of her really close guy friends have done the same thing. I'm gonna give her a call today and talk to her about it... but really it feels like one of the worst thing i've ever done to someone close to me. I always thought of myself as a good person with a spotless history, but i suppose even "good" people fuck up.
Edit: I don't think alcohol really does absolve you of guilt. I chose to drink while depressed, which never ends well for me.
