Today was my annual with my incredibly sexy gynecologist.. *bites lip*

I had my pap smear and my annual full blown STD check.. It just reminded me to alert everyone on the importance of getting these tests done at least once a year.. I always do the STD check with my pap smear so It's easy to remember.. :) Oh.. and check out the New Cervical Cancer Vaccine while you're at it.. :D

I've looked into getting the vaccine, but its not government funded here yet, and I dont have $500 lying around. :(

I'm getting the last lot of the vaccine tomorrow, all free for girls 15-18 here. As for pap and STDs, being in the lower half of that age bracket and a virgin makes them unnecessary, but will take your advice when needed.

The cervical cancer vaccs are available free in Australia, to any girl between uhhh... 10 and 25 i think it was, something close anyway.

They go around schools giving them out.

That's what I'm getting. All year 10-12 get them done during lunch breaks.

See if your insurance will cover it.. They should.. It's being pretty much regulated now.. My little sister had a physical and they gave it to her as standard procedure..

Some state up in New England, New Hampshire, I believe, started a program to give the injections for free, and all these crazy Right Wing Christians came out about how it was immoral and that the state had no right to offer free injections that might protect their daughters from cervical cancer. The gall of the state to try and prevent death, you know?

I dunno.. I thought if you were in a steady relationship, a steady monogamous relationship with someone you kinda didnt need to keep getting the tests done.

My depo shot nurse asked if I'd like to get the general STD tests done last year when I was going through a rocky time with a boyfriend, and it took two chocolate penguins and a cup of tea and a bunch of free condoms to stop me from crying.
Those were weird, messed up unpleasant times.

My gynocologist always makes wierd small talk when he's examining me. Do most people get tested for STD's every year? I've only been tested once like 7 years ago when I was pregnant.
