Default I hate relationships.

I hate the worrying, the jealousy, the constant thinking about breaking up. And I don't understand how I got myself into another one.

I do, however, want to make this work as much as I can. I've already tried to tell him that I'm NOT the best choice, and that I have a lot of bad qualities which will sooner or preferably later drive him away. He insists that nothing I could do would change his feelings.

Be it any other guy, I'd just assume he was in it for sex, which we aren't having but the sexual tension's definitely there. I'm a virgin, he's not and can get pretty much any girl he wants, so perhaps his motives don't revolve around sex? (I've already made it clear to him that if I were a quick fuck he would have to invest some time in me first, and that it's not worth it. He says blah blah blah he'll wait for me if I want him to.)

All of the above are just little details. So, in order to keep this all nice and together, how does one overcome the paranoia of a new relationship? I was comfortable with our friendship, and definitely wanted something more out of it, but now I feel like it's going to take some time to feel comfortable with "going out" with him.

Just hang out with him more and get to know him for who he is .
If your a virgin and says that he can 'get any girl he wants' then im sure hes not in it for sex. Maybe you could try being positive rather than looking at all the negatives?
so what if you have problems, no one is perfect. talk to the guy about it, he obviously likes you for a reason.
Good luck.

He sounds ominously nice.

You should probably have sex with him.

If you have that low of a self-esteem and are that jealous, maybe you shouldn't be dating an extremely "hot" guy (which is what your boyfriend sounds like).

Paranoia is a normal part of every relationship, indeed life.

It never goes away.

It'll always be there nagging at you.

I don't know how some people seem to live with it so well. I'm a fucking paranoid mess.

Maybe if you had written your post this way, and believe it, you won't have any problems.

I love relationships, having a partner to experience life with, trust with my secrets with, trusting him to be faithful, and forgiving his mistakes, I want to work at this to make sure it lasts.

I have my problems, and I hope to work with him to overcome them, and never let my problems drive us apart.

I really like this guy and wish to share myself physically, as well as emotionally. I'll work to make him feel like I was worth the effort to build a strong relationship with.

However, that whole," he's not interested in sex" shit is crap. If a man's dick isn't happy, he's not happy and will be cold and unloving over time. Don't be a whore, but don't hold out forever, cause men need to be pleased or they'll fuck around on you. Don't tell lies, and don't except lies, as the brutal truth can be dealt with, but not being sure will tear you apart.

My self-esteem isn't THAT low, and I'm not THAT jealous. It's only fair for him to know a bad side so he still has a chance to step 10 feet back and run like hell. Just being a little considerate, and yeah he may be too good for me, but I am trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

E: easeoflife, that's what I'm trying to do. It's fucking difficult to open up emotionally when I've been told that I can only use my body to attract people. And again, he swears that he's more than just sexually attracted to me, and it's hard to accept that. Anywho, really good advice. I'll try to "alter" my perspective and what not.

I fucking hear you mate!

If I'm with someone relationship-wise, I love it. Having someone there to talk to, spend time with, share thoughts and feelings with, make love to etc.

But there's always that part of my mind saying things that I don't wanna hear..."Where's she been?"..."Who's she with?"..."What does she mean by that?"..."Can you really trust this person?"

It's the little things like those that fuck me up.

OP...I would say just enjoy it. In a hundred years, it ain't even gonna matter anymore.

I'm always uber content when i'm with the person, but depending on the relationship, can get really depressed by the sheer fact of not being with them. I dunno, I've realized I'm too dependent on relationships. Perhaps it'd be best (if this one doesn't work out--and it seems like you've got a good guy here) after this relationship to start thinking about what YOU want (and by that, I don't mean someone else) out of life, and pursue that. If you're really secure in yourself, I don't see how you wouldn't be in a relationship.

The fact that you're in a relationship forum in totse kinda tells me that you're a lot like the rest of the people, who are generally insecure and try to find solace in a non-judgmental community. Well, aside from people like CarbonB, that is.

Newsflash: Everyone has a bad side. Sometimes it's just more hidden than not.
