Default Why do people have relationships? Other than for sex.

The title says it all. Other than sex, why are you in a relationship with somebody?

If you cant figure it out than your not going to get too far in a relationship.

Seriously, and this sounds pretty queer from the male standpoint, but...

Relationships build trust, and then you have someone you can supposedly tell anything and all those little aspects of it.

But I don't think the above applies to most males on here.

Plus it's always nice to feel loved, and have someone to hang out with.

I have relationships because I am fundamentally unable to love myself and thus require others to feed me love in order to stay happy. That, or drink. I do fine with drugs and alcohol or a good girl.

ultimately? its a biological urge, designed to help the female rear her offspring to a somewhat independent stage using the male as resources and/or protection.

what consciously drives us there? having intimate company, kills loneliness.

I'm not in a relationship...But when I was it was great knowing someone's there to love you just for who you are.
Someone to talk to, have fun with, be close to...Stuff like that.

You have been abused at a young age, I guess from the way you put it, You now have trouble seeing the emotional, because, you are repressing the abuse, which means you try to block anything emotional, so that the abuse won't hurt you anymore.

For company really, I find that I can become closer to a girl than I can with a boy. I think the need to feel special that we all have plays a part too. Everyone needs to feel good, or at least, everyone wants to feel good, and in a relationship, I think, you make each other feel special.

I know I miss my girlfriend now, because she's on holiday. I don't know what it is that makes me feel this way, I just know that without her there, I don't feel right.

The abuse doesn't have to be there, for the pain to still exist, or atleast the illusion of it's existence, people will usually shun anything away they associate with their pain, which is why black cops don't take it the wrong way when a white women is raped by a black man, and doesn't want to talk to them, they know they are just associating the experience.

It just feels good being around her. When I need someone to talk to, she's there, and I don't feel that she will judge me for talking about things that are bothering me at the time like other people would. It's just easy to talk to her. I can't talk to other girls at all, but for some reason I can just go on and on about nothing with her.

The sex is great, but that's not the ONLY reason I'm in a relationship. If you're in a relationship just for sex, you better not be saying you love her/him and shit. That's just dumb. Plus, can you even call it a relationship if all you like the person for is their dick/cunt? I mean yeah, it's a relationship, but not on the level most people think of when they hear, "I'm in a relationship".

I think this is where Im at, which is not where I wanna be. But, Ill take it for now and keep looking. Ive been told women look at you more when you are with one, so lets hope its true, and I finds me a good woman finally. /prays
