I'm making this thread just because I want to know if I'm right, not because I'm too lazy to Google it but I just want to know.

The US left the Kyoto protocol or didn't sign into because as the energy chairmen said it would be too costly, or was it because it did not held new up and coming economical industries the likes of China, India and Pakistan to the same degree as the US and downplayed their role in their need to cut the emission of CO2 gases.

Is this right? am I right?
