This might seem fucked as i have only just been modded for CL but its something I have thought for a long time now and didn't want to impinge on Seph in any way.

Do we really need CL? The traffic is pretty low most days and although a lot of the threads have value , does it really need to be a separate forum?

My suggestion would be to delete it and then rename Humanities to include it...ie "Humanities and The Tower Of Babylon' or something.

But NOT a subforum as that would be the kiss of death.

I'd be ok with being modded for Humanities on the understanding that i keep my nose out of the non CL type threads. Assuming the present mods there don't feel competent to moderate language threads.

Don't get me wrong. I love languages and talking about them. I find the fact that Elvis' surname descends from the German 'Preslau' truly fascinating and I have spent many many evenings looking through lists of how to say 'Hey babe, wanna fuck' in every language known to man.

But whatever you (zok/acid) decide I'll do my best to mod it in whatever form. Just seems like a good chance to prune the board down and maybe get rid of one moderator......not that I am not still intent on World Domination of course...

Seems like it might be a sure-fire way to "kill" a forum; seems like it has a small localized population that might not like browsing through another forum to find the scattered topics of their original forum.

Well yes and no; If you're defintely going to get rid of CL, then yes I think a subforum would be much better than simply posting CL threads in Humanities.

But if there's a choice of leaving CL as is, posting CL threads in H, or making a sub-forum, then I think leaving CL as is would be the best way to go.

I simply think a sub-forum is the lesser of two evils.

I think language learning deserves its own forum. I can't see it fitting into Humanities, and having it there would just be confusing. Simplicity is best, don't you think?
