For a while this troll had us all fooled.
You could almost beleive that he was a generally nice but angered fat guy trying to do something about his weight.

Couldn't we just tag usernames so we don't have to remember this blacklist? I know Temple's all about anti-censorship and that, but it'd just make them that little bit easier to ignore.

Go to user CP, scroll down the options on the left till you get to 'buddy list/ignore list'.
This will take you to a screen where you can type in a posters name to either add them as a friend or ignore them.
When you ignore a poster you'll see their name and a space where their post might be, but it will be blank and you shall be spared their inane ramblings.

It's a wonderfull invention.

Because posting profiles and making threads like this won't encourage them...

if people pay attention to the thread and set the listed trolls to ignore like is suggested, it wont matter if the trolls take this as encouragement.

and if enough people put them on ignore to where nobody in the forum replies to them at all anymore then eventually they will get bored and go post their bullshit somewhere else and/or lurk instead.

IMO mods shouldn't use the ignore function. They need to know exactly what goes on in their forums.This. I wish there were a way to ignore in certain forums, though. IE: Add a user to your ignore list and have it ignore in every forum except the one(s) you mod. That way you can still get the benefit of ignoring the douche wads in your "play" forums, but you can still react accordingly in your "work" forums.

However, I think (I've never used the ignore function so I might be wrong) that when you ignore someone, you still have the option of viewing their posts, much like we do when someone deletes a post (mod powers activate!). So you could, in theory, add someone to your ignore list, and then periodically view single posts of theirs if there seemed to be a problem... But I don't know if the ignore system works like that or not.

While I've been thoroughly enjoying this piss-fest between mods, and have gone through a couple of bowls of popcorn watching the show.......an important point needs to be made here.

That is, if anyone OTHER than a mod had put this thread up it would have been moved to Bitch and Moan in less than an hour. Yet here we enter day 3 of this topic. Now before any mod responds to this with the usual witty response of...."totse is a dictatorship.... deal with it, if you don't like it leave" or any other redundant blather understand fully I'm not trying to "change" anything here. I've always been under the opinion if a feud starts in a certain section, that feud should play out in that section so the normal posters have a better understanding of the history/dynamic of that feud that more than likely is splattered around in multiple threads. Personally I think it makes more sense for regs and noobs alike to be able to follow along easier with those feuds, rather than have to section hop to keep up with the soap opera.

So while I'm not trying to have this thread moved because I AM enjoying it, I did want to point out yet again some of the hypocrisy that permeates this place. There is one set of standards for the peon posters, and a completely different one for the mods.

So when in the days/weeks ahead the mods of S & A are having to move a whole litany of "This poster is a dork thread" over to B & M.....then they only have themselves to blame.

I play favourites. I allow regulars far more rope than newbies. Many times I've said here that a thread can stay simply because the poster is a regular of good standing or whatever.

I don't treat everyone equally. Maybe I should but I trust the regulars and they rarely abuse that trust. Quite often you'll see a 'jack please leave this up, I know it should go in *** but..' comment on a thread.

If yoyo wasn't a mod and had posted this thread then I probably would have left it up for a bit at least, simply because she is one of the best posters here. And of course as mod she has every right to post it.
