Default Starting over

Girlfriend and I broke up yesterday after a pretty excellent bunch of months. She moved recently and although she had convinced me we could work long distance feelings faded and she decided to call it off after a two week break.

I'm mostly just TERRIFIED of not being able to achieve the level of intimacy we had. I don't feel like I have it in me.

How am I supposed to find another horrible cute indie girl that likes me like she did? Not to mention sexes on the second date. :/

I guess at this point I'm just trying to convince myself that despite how much I may have wanted her, I didn't want the sort of relationship we would have had. We just felt SO compatible. But I guess there's not much I can do if she doesn't feel the same.

I don't know what I'm looking for with this post so I guess it could be locked if mods so desire.

I guess I'm just wondering what I do at this point?

Its right there in front of you guy, go out, meet new people, do something to keep your mind off of her. The last thing you want to do is stay in every night, dreaming about her, all the good times you had with her, and that she was the most perfect girl you ever met. But then reality hits you and you remember shes gone. Don't get into that. Forget that whole sentence actually. Go out and just mingle. Thats the only thing you can do. You can't be that desperate for a relationship now, are you? So just take it slow, and go flex some new girls. Theres over 76523485632458763248569 million girls in the world, and the "Indie Girl" can't be on the one at the very top. I promise you that you'll find a new girl that you'll like, if not, you'll find a better girl than your last one.

Every time I go through a breakup, I feel that that was it. That was the last time I could ever get anyone, that I'll never date again.
That feeling usually never lasts long.

For now, dont look for anything extremely deep and meaninfull, the harder you look the less you'll find.
If you can, just meet new people, have some fun, enjoy a girls company but dont read too much into it.

Hey thanks both of you. :)

Raptafairious, your post in the Girlfriendless Guys' Club thread along with the one is this one has definitely kicked my perspective back into line.

Right now I think I need to focus on developing INTERESTS and not of the romantic sort.

I think I'll start music-ing again. :)

Everyone feels like that, and it eventually has to subside. For me, missing the specific person eventually subsided into a more subtle, less painful thing, but the idea of being in a loving relationship again still seems impossible..

I sympathize, I really do! <3 <3 <3

I'm taking solace in the fact that despite how much I may have done to fuck up the relationship she still woulda moved. ;)

This, sad to say, is remarkably uncommon; there are even those who might sex on the first date, or without any prompting for a date at all.

I know you think she's special, and indeed she is, but not terribly so to where obstacles don't matter; even one so banal as long distance. To site a slightly self-involved example I've had two long distance relationships: one a horrible failure errupting in infidelity and all things terrible, and the other doesn't even have official ties of boyfriend/girlfriend in which to tether but the temptations usually associated with the destruction of long distance relationships seemed to not exist. Of course temptations exist all day every day as the world is never at lack for trite, meaningless sex, especially for the beautiful, but we'd either be oblivious to them or think "aw, that's cute that they think they're getting some from me."

The point isn't about the aesthetics or snobbish behavior or me or anybody I've been involved with, the point is that everybody you become attached to in a relationship of such intimacy will seem extraordinarily special. Some are. Some aren't. The other point is fiendishly attractive indie girls with lustful libdos are in abundance; we live in the days of decadence and deviancy.

And I'm sure at least one of them might love you after getting her rocks off.

There isn't, essentially, anything novel about your situation, and what really drew me to the post was your name as I had just recently started re-reading the series out of a desire to pull myself out of a personal funk. I recommend you do something similar if you find yourself still too hurt or otherwise apprehensive about the pursuit of the booty. It's entertaining, can be insightful, and could give you conversation starters if you ever find yourself in the company of another compatible indie chick.

I refuse to let "read any good books lately" die as a cocktail conversation simply because nobody reads anymore.
