Help.
Hey guys, this may or may not be a dumb question, but I was wondering if it was possible to move one post in a thread to the top of the first page? I don't mean edit it, I mean cut and paste it and replace the OP with a later post altogether? I'm not sure if the software supports such butchery. I'm only asking as a regular wanted to move a post in his thread. Should I just have a new thread made and merge them or what?
For referrence, here is the thread in question: http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?t=2028091&page=2

Re: Help.
There's a move posts option but I think that just shunts them into another thread.
I was wondering what other GPP mods thought of this (http://www.totse.com/community/showthread.php?p=8819618#post8819618) thread? I dont know if it should be closed or not. It doesent link directly to torrents or anything.

Re: Help.
I think the best you could do is open up the window to edit the post, then copy-paste it into the first post. As far as I know you can't shunt posts around in-thread.
Or technically you could find an old thread you made (older than that thread), delete all the other posts out of it, replace your post with the post from that newer thread and merge the threads, your post would come first. But it would show up as your post and that you'd started the thread. Too much trouble for a useless result. Although I guess you could do the exact same thing with one of OpiateSeclorum's old threads; it'd have the big results post in a separate post to that thread's OP, but still show up as "Edited by Township Rebellion".
Still seems like too much trouble to me, mind.

Re: Help.
Why not just edit it and copy & paste the new info in the first post? Maybe put a shiny banner *LIKE THIS* at the top of it?
What you're describing sounds like WAY too much trouble.

In my opinion it all comes down to copyright laws...I'm a huge supporter of emulator software, but in the case of ROMs...I don't mind links to a site containing ROMs, but a link straight to a ROM itself is a little too much.
Same goes for emulators.

He's already done that himself, but I guess he's interested in moving posts so it all looks neater.
As for the emulation thing... to be honest I don't have much against emulators of old games and systems. NES, Genesis, SNES and the like; you can't exactly go into your local EB and find these systems with all the games you like anymore. At best they'll have a used shelf with a few old copies of EA's Genesis sports games, but that's about it. Even garage sales aren't a guarentee, and the only place to regularly find stuff like this is maybe eBay... though I never touch eBay myself. Thing is, seems to me Nintendo doesn't hold any more rights as far as the NES goes, anyone can legally 'pirate' old NES games and systems now, why should downloading them be any different?

I have a hard time finding a lot of the music that I listen to but that doesn't mean that if I start downloading albums the RIAA will be willing to slip me a "get out of jail" free card, I would think the same applies even more so to game companies.
Even if Nintendo allowed the pirating of the NES system and it's game (which I don't believe it does but please correct me if I'm wrong) that doesn't mean they allow the SNES, Game Boy Color, and N64 systems. Nor does it mean that Sega allows the pirating of their Genesis, Saturn, and Dreamcast systems or Sony's Playstation.
The fact that these companies are still selling games for these systems on the Wii, 360, or Playstation 3 as downloadable pay-for-play content leads me to believe that they do care that their material is being pirated and that they wouldn't think twice about pursuing legal action if they needed to.
I'm not trying to tell the mods of GPP how to run their forum but I am concerned with the possible consequents of having a thread dedicated to pirating numerous systems and games, especially when it is on a site that already has the reputation that TOTSE has (be they true or not).

Re: Help.
I figured as it the thread I was worried about was posted by a mod who's been a mod for longer than me, he wouldnt have posted it if it wasnt allowed there.
