Default A break?

So he calls this morning at 1:15, says, "It's not working out the way it's going. I want a break. Bye." and hangs up.

There's a lot more backstory but to be honest, I didn't have any idea he'd come right out and say it. I'm kind of lost-feeling right now.

Fuck, son.

I'm planning on calling him later I think.

He's keeping you on the backburner while he goes and gets some somewhere else...Hate to tell you but that's the most likely situation.

Go out and have some fun.

His mom has finally given into his advances...after hearing from her mom, that he's pretty hot.

Move on...groove on...

Don't look back, or

You'll see him trying to get your mom in the sack! EEK!

The relationship is (was?) heading downhill in more ways than I care to write down, but I don't think I expected this to happen.

We've been together for 11 months, but a lot's changed this summer since he graduated and has done almost nothing with himself besides party. He doesn't have a job or a place to sleep, but yet he finds ways to smoke and skate all day and plan what he's getting for his first tattoo. We also barely have conversations anymore, and he tells me it's because he "doesn't know what to say." And he gets pissed at me when I go on vacation for three days with my best friend and get drunk with her one night and call him, when he calls me shitfaced all the time.

There's other shit too. I'm starting to think this is a good thing.

I think the break was for the better. I don't want to say too much because I don't know him personally, but he sounds like he's a bit too immature for you. Take it slow and don't rush into finding another guy. Let the right one come for you, really. It sounds lame, but that's how I met my current boyfriend that I plan to marry.

Dump him now. A break is just a slow death of a relationship and he didn't even have the decency to talk to you about it.

Why are you even with him to begin with? You can do way better. Besides, if he said he doesnt want you, and you call him up anyways...that just makes you look pathetic. Save your dignity and move on. Let him come back to you, if you're that obsessed, and make him work for it.

From what you've described, the relationship pretty much run its course. Add an -up to that break, you'll be better off for it.

"We need to take a break" is always code word for "I'm breaking up with you", they just dont have the balls to actually say it

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll wait and see what happens, hang out with some other friends tonight, and wait and see if he calls me. Good plan?

That^^.

You're probably better off without him. If he didnt care for you enough to want to try and work things out, then... he isnt worth your time.

I don't think that moving on would be a bad idea.

You deserve more than a guy that calls at quarter after one and breaks up with you, then hangs up.

Be sure that when you talk to him, to make him explain.

Best of Luck.

Put it this way: If anyone ever asks for a break with me, I'll end it forever on the spot in quite a pissed off way. It's just a weak-ass attempt at a break up and anyone who does it deserves no respect at all.

Exactly. Same happened to a guy I know. His ex (also mine, but that's another story) said the same thing to him before she got the "courage" (on MSN...) to tell him she wanted to break up.

What bull, internet breakups are fucking retarded.

Speaking of which, he also immediately changed his Myspace to read "Divorced" and his Facebook to "It's complicated," and it has me really pissed off that he feels the need to let everyone know right away. And he left me a comment an hour after calling me saying "thanks".

What the hell, man. I'm not gonna call him.

As we don't know youse two...?

That does sound kind of deperate though. Doesn't he have his skater groupies?

If you hang around after he's basically dumped you over the phone? Then if he deals with you at all: it will be from a position of power as you grovel at his feet. Or am I missing something?

Is he not disrespecting you & are you not sucking it up with nary a word except for a, "WAIT! I gotta put on my dog collar & put in my ballgag!"? So? You like, nay love being his dog?

Expect to be kicked? Love it?

Well...carry on then.

He was probably just about to get some, but she was like "No way, you have a girlfriend."

Then he's all like "Yeah, but I want to break up with her and secks wif u."

She's all like "Pics for proof."

Then the conversation between you and him at 1:15.

Just a theory, but why else would he do it at 1:15 am?

That went straight over my head. :(

I stayed home tonight. He hasn't called, I haven't called him. And there's no way I'm groveling at anyone's feet.

What a fuckin' loser, first of all, sitting around skating all day is what fuckin' losers do. Tell him to get a life and stop being a piece of rat shit and then you will reconsider being back with him.

Why are women never capable of giving a fair and balanced account?

Perhaps because I don't even know what he thinks, seeing as he didn't say anything besides "We need a break."

so you don't think you've done anything wrong in the relationship, or your actions have no affect on the way he treats you?

because you sure as hell don't mention any.

I didn't want to type out a long, boring story about our relationship, and I'm not saying I haven't done anything wrong. I suppose I'm not at all the perfect girlfriend, but my point was to wonder why he'd call in the middle of the night and say we're on a break with no warning whatsoever.
If you really care, I'll type the whole story out, but this thread is pretty much finished.
