When closing a thread..
When closing a thread, would it be possible for the moderator who does it to post and say why?
I'm not demanding or anything.. heh.. it's just that it seems it confuses other posters if not.
I've just received the weirdest email, and I'm not sure if it's something I've done. I havent deleted any threads serious threads in a long time, so I'm lead to beleive that a poster has had a thread closed by a mod, and has done the all time favorite thing of simply accusing their most hated mod of doing it:
"You, like, hate us dz's or somthing. or going to close it withing 3min of opening it?? WHAT THE HELL DID YOU EXPECT!! I'm On frigin msn telling the people about it. but if ur gonna delete it then i won't even bother! None of the other regs are on totse at the moment anyways! Gah, the blide arrogence of some people drives me crazy!!
look, sorry, if you delete it, fine. delete it. ill just wait for someone else to make it again. i don't even care anymore. lock it, delete it, whatever. just don't go bitching about it 3min after its just been opened. k?"
*is confused*

Re: When closing a thread..
I think I've bitched plenty of times about mods (especially SG mods) not posting why they're closing threads. It helps us avoid situations like the one above.
Regulars have also requested this.

Heh yeah I allways had great fun in SG. Regardless of who closed the thread I'd allways get emails along the lines of "fuck you cunt, new mod abusing your powers, damn you for closing my thread!" even if I was totaly innocent!
good times :)

Re: When closing a thread..
Mail the kid back and ask him what the holy everloving fuck he's talking about?
You can see which mod closed a thread in the Thread Tools -> Edit Thread screen. I won't bitch at mods for not leaving closing messages (kAtE'll do that for me :)) but if anybody asks about it or accuses the wrong mod I'll tell them or set them straight.
I like leaving closing messages, anyway. A little dig makes modding more fun.

Ok, done,
"Umm..
Do I know you?
I dont actually know what the hell you're talking about. tell that to your msn buddies.
When a thread is closed or deleted, dont just assume it was done by your most hated moderator. I've found often that a mod will close a thread and not say anything, so everyone will assume it was someone else.
If this thread happens to have been in one of the 3 forums I moderate, please do send me a link to it so I know wtf you're talking about and perhaps I can re-open it for you. Cause really, I have no fucking clue what you're talking about, and there's no need for you to be so rude. yoyobek"
I hope that's a tolerable response. I'm a mod partly so I can help posters with any problems they have they feel like sharing with me, but I'm not too tolerant to threats like "I'm telling my msn buddies about U!"

Re: When closing a thread..
When I started moderating in HB, I didn't leave any sort of messages and people blamed everything I did on Mandy.

Re: When closing a thread..
In BLTC, if I see a thread that belongs in a "class" that is repeatedly closed, I'll just close it without leaving an explanation. I'm tired of typing out "this belongs in the _____ Thread" over and over again. :)
