Going to a new school
Well due to certain reasons I am going to a new school in september.
Going into grade 11, whatever that means for people out of canada I do not know, but I am 16, third year of highschool.
Now I want to give a good first impression, what should I do?
I've already set up to cut my shaggy mop hair, and clothing is not an issue because it is a uniformed catholic school.

Re: Going to a new school
Fuck religion.
Sorry.
A good responses would be to be yourself, that way you'll make the right impression on the right people for you :)
P.S. if the shaggy mop hair is "you" I wouldn't cut it.

Re: Going to a new school
depends on who you want to fall in with.
I love starting new jobs as it gives you that fresh sheet. You can make the impression that you have wanted to before.
I always used to find the smoking area and use the classic "hey man got a light ?" , and there you go conversation initiated. Its an unusual smoking ritual but i bet everyone has done it once or twice .
Just be friendly and genuine its hard to get pissed off with someone who is a nice bloke. Especially when you are new. You could be some nutty skin and flip out like a P fryer or something.

Be your god damn self, why the fuck would you want to hang around with people who don't like the real you?

It is me, but I must admit, its fucking long, getting a little trim, you know... to make it just a little better...plus it's hard to get a job when you look like such a stoner.

Re: Going to a new school
If you are into drinking and drugs, good. Make sure you go to parties, don't give a general shit what people think about you, and enjoy it. I find the uglier chicks are more willing to screw you in high school. Not that the hot ones won't, they just require more alcohol.
Also, if you can get alcohol in high school, you're Jesus. Seriously, tell a girl you'll bring alcohol to a party and you're automatically 1-step cooler than all the lamo kids who just come to parties to mooch.
Remember, it's high school. Be social, stay off the computer, go out, and never turn down an opportunity for (sorta good looking) pussy.

Why should you cut your hair?
There's nothing more frightening than seeing a bunch of kids with military crew cuts at times.
I'd say be friendly, but not clingy. Smile at people or say hi but dont be like
"OMg HI I loeV kandy and games and puppies and my mom when she makes oatmeal cookies and games and we should sooo be friends lets be friends lets be friends!!"
Getting the balance right is important.

Just be your motherfucking self.
If people don't like that, fine, it's way worse constantly trying to act like someone else.

Good luck mate, it can be real hard. The main reason it's hard is cause you expect it to be, don't build it up as some huge thing in your head. Just think of it as another chapter in your life.
Don't pick fights, don't be a pussy, hang out with people you actually like and only give out favors if you think they'll return the favor.

Re: Going to a new school
the fact that you're asking a bunch of totse members how you should act in your new high school so people will like you leads me to believe that you're probably a socially awkward individual. Otherwise you wouldn't need advice, especially not from a forum with such.. colourful people, haha. Either ways, you're probably all nervous and shit, so here's a few tips I can think of.
First off, you can be nervous as hell, but as long as you act confident, not even cool or awesome, just confident, you will do great. A good level of confidence (not cockiness, there's a fine line) breeds many good things.
In a catholic school, being confident, bold, and edgy will always land you in a crowd that is fun. Can you do that? I have no clue. Try and be somewhat reserved for your first week or so, acting as if you couldn't care less whether people talk to you or not. It's the kids that are all social and giddy the first days that end up being disregarded.
Since it's highschool, which is possibly the worst place for a north american adolescent to spend most of his time, you should learn social cliques fast. Knowing religious schools, these exist in extreme ways, very divided I find. You should notice who leads what roles and how that affects the school environment. Knowing this, and being quiet at first, will let you know who is the right person to talk to and what groups you'd like to be associated with.
In the end, have fun and be yourself, I hated fucking highschool.

Kill a smaller guy the first day, so that they all know not to mess with you.

I started a new school when I was 15. It was much easier/better than I thought it would be. I settled in real well and quickly.

Re: Going to a new school
i'm wetting myself for college. i know absoloutely noone who goes there.
it's the first time i'll ever not wear uniform and not be in a set form or know anyone before hand, and i'm just going to do whatever i want, i don't want to be a silly try hard and be liked for who i'm not.
i just want to be as purely aimée as possible, hoping that my charm and magnetism will work in these unknown waters (:
being yourself and not caring about da haterzz is the best way to be. people who geninely like YOU will like you and be your friends

Re: Going to a new school
Ya man just be chill shit. Like when some shits going on it school don't be all excited and shit just be like thats cool in a slow kinda fast way. Just be the kool new kid on the block. If you're good looking, go up to a group you want to be in aka kool kids with hot girls. Then being yourself introduce yourself, and be like what do you guys do around here for fun, and it should nicely. Just don't be a new gay kid. Every new gay kid at my school gets shits on. except for new hot girls.
