Right now i am playing Saints Row, and besides the larger more complicated city, the better graphics, and better cars controls its got a 'if crackdown was GTA and had a story' feel to it. Most the people who defend that its not almost exactly like GTA have only played up to Vice City, and havent played San Andreas.
Now this is not about how bad or how much a rip off Saints Row is. Its actually a fairly decent game. With some Original side missions, but the aiming system and online play are lacking. In fact I think its a good idea that game developers take ideas that work from other people and expand upon it. The original developers will see the changes and make the original game better in the long run.

Part 2.
Now, I like Download able content and all, one of the few things that made PC games so much better on on counsels, Expansion packs. But when you get a game like (Its name just became lost to me but its a PS3 game that you race off road. came out a few months ago. really pretty) that is only half a game with only a hand full of tracks and cars, but they promise more for download, at a price. You just paid 60 bucks for (Motor storm?) and they want you to pay even more money for things that should have been in the game to begin with.
And then you hae half assed downloads like, The Horse Armor pack for oblivion which was a waste of money, in my opinion. Download able content is a great idea, companies just need to watch what they do or they might ruin it.

Part 3: Killzone 2.
Why are people excited for this game? I am taking a very objective look here, no opinion, just looking at the facts, and I see nothing to get 'Halo' excited about. Yea, its pretty, but so are almost all new games. If you look how poor Killzone did, you will see that the majority of games, and game magazines, thought it to be an average game. With that said, why would number 2 be so much better? I hope its a good game, I hope all games are good. But honestly all it has going for it right now is a pretty dress. Its not even on a popular system.

You're absolutely right about the downloadable content shenanigans, that shit has gotten ridiculous. It was at it's absolute worst with EA sports title. I think it was Tiger Woods that shipped with half the courses of the last-gen versions, and had you pay for certain unlocks, unlocks that could be had for free in the last-gen versions. So you got half the content to begin with for $60, and on top of that $60 you had to pay extra for each unlock you wanted.

It was really quite sad when Epic, a company known for releasing loads of free content after the fact for their PC games, was forced by Microsoft to charge for their map pack. Because after all, how would it make Microsoft look when they nickel and dime gamers for every sliver of extra Halo 3 content? Apparently it's not enough that you have to pay hundreds of dollars for an unreliable console, it's not enough that you have to pay to play online, it's not enough that you payed a $10 "next-gen fee" for your game, but on top of all of that you have to pay for extra content just to remain competitive in the multiplayer component.

And I wholeheartedly agree about Killzone 2 as well, the only thing it has going for it from what I've seen is pretty graphics. I haven't hear word one about how it's going to innovate from a gameplay perspective. It's quite baffling too, because Killzone 1 was a pretty mediocre title that was also surrounded by loads of ridiculous hype. I don't think I've ever seen such a lackluster series get so much hype.

Part 6: the demo.
Wtf Happened to my demos? Ok, most notably was the Tomba demo, one of the longest demos ever, I played the shit out of it and wanted the game. Bad. Thats what demos used to be, a length of the final game, where when you reach a certain point, it goes, "well this is the end, Buy our game!" and usually, you did buy the game if it was good.
But these days Demos have gone completely gay. Wtf is up with them timing out? they are a long demo, but you can only play for 10 minutes? Why? people love exploring every nook and cranny of a demo to fully get the game. Now you only get enough time for a tortorial over the controls, and a few minutes of actual game play. That, in my opinion is completely rediculas.

PSN has some good demos i dont think any are timed and there free to get ie heavanly sword looks amazing and plays amazing and i probly going to get it

The Heavenly Sword demo doesn't feature a 10 minute time limit because it features ten minutes or less of gameplay anyway.

Holy shit I just remembered the MGS2 demo. Was it just me or did any one else think that demo was awesome!

Although, it sort of ruined the game. I played through the first part (the part that was in the demo) and then just as soon as I went past the point that ends in the demo and into the unknown I was given Raiden.

Killzone(PS2) was a great FPS shooter. It was very fun. I had more fun with it than the overrated halo.

You people bashing Killzone are probably the same people that love halo. You claim Killzone 2 offers no new innovation etc. Well guess what? Halo 1-3 offered nothing knew either. All 3 games were very average and were quite boring. Yet it still gets praise. Ill never understand that.

If your not halo fans, than your PC gaming half life queers. Half life 1&2 suck so much fucking balls its ridiculous. Half life 1&2 are average games at best. They control good, but the actual gameplay is lacking and boring. The levels are too fucking long. The gravity gun is the most overrated piece of shit that ever shat shit. Didn't you find it a bit repetitive? 95% of the enemies were that same goddamn soldier, with only one or two other enemies thrown in there. Every level consisted of "walk into a room, see the Helghast invade the room, shoot at for five minutes, kill, continue to next room, repeat". I couldn't beat the game because I couldn't stand that whole system.

But the game was still fun as hell. Luger for the win.

Part1 Longevity:

Why is it that all games seem to be maxxed out at 30 hour games and even less if you count MgS4 which could be beaten within only a handfull on of hours if you skip all the awesome cutscenes(well some of the at least). Even GTA known for it's lengevity was easy to to beat in under 30 Hours and the absolute lack of side activities that were just fun like icecream dilivering. Mass Effect was one of the biggest let downs because it was fucking short as hell. In my opinion the special abilities and choosing if you could be an asshole or a pussy was ok but spendng 1/3 of you time walking around the citidel was fucking lame as shit but, the end was fucking excellent. Speaking of Rpg's what happend to the 100 hours of Bualder's Gate That could have been achieved. I would love a game that long if the plot was good and the the game kept you inside the world for that long without being MMO esque.

Part2 Innovation:

Where has it gone ? did it decide to get old and stop qorking well? I mean some games are pushing the envolope with brand new ideas (Portal) but, the majority of them are from small companies that Never get enough press or buys to make the game worth it The game that say they have innovation just have small tweaks to an already proven well working system and never quite veer off from that path (i.e. the cover system, dustruction, grey dark environments that plague the games coming out/are out). Tieing into Portal again When will the be DLC for it?I want MOAR!!!!! Oh yeah and Dear Omnipitant being please use your power to make Mirror's Edge as good as it seems to be right now

Not Rant: Storytelling

It is Awesome now period. once again Mass Effect had excellent storytelling where your character could be modeled after yourself to an extent. Bioshock The atmosphere plot ect. was done damn near perfect. Cod4 wow an FPs that had a largely captivating story nearly unheard of

Counter part 1 demos

Bioshock had a fairly long demo and it wasn't all gay ass tutorials either then again that is a fairly solitude case

Overal perspective

in the gaming industry is switching for Quality > Quantity coupled with the advancement of becomeing a large form of entertainment which makes the previously good unheard of games go fairly good with the press. Also with the rising competition brought on by the media game companies must adhere the budget and try to maximize profitability by trying to be fit for all gamers , which means make it pretty($$$) for sheeptards and good for hardcore and pussy gamers ($) thus ruining the role of only pandering to a small audiance and now must pander to a very large audiance to compensate for massive money spent

This game never gets fucking old. I did LAN play with the original DOS version running in DosBox with my brother and it was fucking win. Sometimes more fun than C&C3. I still play C&C 3 a lot though...
