Religious differences...
I like this girl that is very christian and insists I go to church. We like each other a lot but it's hard because of this. Everyone I ask about this says to just go when she drags me along but I feel like it's equal to lying to her. I dunno, advice?

Re: Religious differences...
Get rid of her ASAP. Religious girls are either secretly dirty freaks, or the most annoying fucking people on the planet.
Do you really want to be dating someone that will not question her beliefs? Or anytime you do something questionable to her ideals, she gives you the third degree and tries to make you feel bad about it, because SHE doesn't like it? How about the fact that you'll have to put up a front for months, just to get past first base? Fuck that man.
My sister's a born-again, and I could not put up with that shit, EVER.

If she can't accept that you're not a Christian then you either need to:
a) Dump her rotten ass.
b) Make her understand that not everyone thinks the same as her, not everyone has the same beliefs.
Going to church and lying about your reason for going is just as bad as lying to get out of it.

Thanks. It sucks. But doing what I have to do is better than living a lie.

Exactly what is it that you have to do? Go to church or have a serious talk to her?

Re: Religious differences...
She may be very devout but by insisting you go along with her to church she is in clear in violation of what the bible says women(wives) should do.
1Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 1 Peter 3
Yes I know she isn't your wife...yet (because thats where's she's heading in her mind) but the rules apply.
ps there are several such verses I just can't be arsed to look them up.

Well it's no longer 1890. Today people get away with things. Hardly anyone reads that old book anyway. They just do it because they feel they have to.
Infact she's doing it because she used to be on drugs really bad. God "helped her" So she's stuck on it.
I really don't want to end it, though.

Re: Religious differences...
You'll feel better when you meet a girl more in tune with your personality, and you won't go to hell for it.
Or you could try to corrupt her a little bit, and get her off her high horse. Hell, just getting her to question her faith may be enough.

Well if you'd understood what I wrote then you'd know that you don't have to end it. If she wants to please Jesus then she needs to keep to his rules for women/wives.

Yea, you are an ignorant swine cunt. Trying to say no one reads the book just because you don't read it is no reason to be a embarrasment to non-christians. Educate yourself and Ask why you don't want to be Christian, other than you think it makes you intellectual or at some higher level.

That poor girl. :(
I hate it when christians get new prey by seeking the weak and the hurt. It's pathetic.
I met a woman once who'd really really wanted a baby, when she finally got pregnant her chruch said "it's a gift from god!". When she had a miscarriage and lost it they said "it's a punishment from god. You deserved to lose it!".
Not alot of respect for people who push their religion and beleifs on people like a drug dealer with some badly cut tweak.

Re: Religious differences...
I'm sorry, but I've concluded that religion is the root of a lot of unjustly things in this world. It's laughable (hysterically) at how ironic the whole idea is. It really has done more harm than good no matter how many people try and argue it this way and that.
EXAMPLES: The Inquisition, The Crusades, the reversal of scientific knowledge, brainwashing children into to pure ignorance and close mindedness, the Salem Witch hunts, witch hunts in general, the flagellants and the bubonic plague, the many church scandals, the vatican and its history, the sacrifices of the Aztecs, the church letting people "buy" their way into heaven by having holy men forgive them of their sins (money required).
All that was only off the top of my head and mostly christianity. I could go on, but I believe enough material is there to suffice my point. And it's not just christianity, there are many others.
Thinking about it all, it really makes me sick. Bunch of ignorant bull shit that's been holding us back since the dawn of civilization.

Re: Religious differences...
I'll go with Jack on this one...Use the bible to your advantage.
There's a whole bunch of stuff in there that basically says "Women, lay down, spread 'em and enjoy because here comes your husband!"
On a more respectful note, if she wants to stick to her values then you should respect that. Jesus freak, orthodox Jew, whatever. It's her choice at the end of the day, man.

Well yeah sure, if it's cool for her to 'share' her religion with him, it's equally cool if he decided he wanted to share hit meth habit with her.

Re: Religious differences...
Personally I'd never date a churchie but that's just me. A general rule is that the Christian congregation is not very accepting of atheists at all. However they sometimes are, to be more specific: when they try to convert you.
If I were you I'd just leave and find a much less religious girl, but that just comes down to personal preference and if you really think she is worth going through all this effort for.
Oh and I know about the dislike many fervent christans have for atheists first hand, I originally came from a Christian high school.

Do you have any idea what kind of things are in that book? Rules on how to live your life that nobody continues to hold to faith. Seriously, it's more like a rulebook on how to get into heaven. I've read most of it.

Do you know how many of those situations were politically driven with using religion just as an excuse?

That doesn't make it any better. Wow, people can abuse religion and people blindly follow. Hell, wasn't that the original problem just with a new spin on it?

This, exactly this. Take it from me, if you're not religious (and not stupid enough to be suckered by it anytime soon) then religious girls are not worth the headache.

Yeah, just don't blame something when it's not the true source. I hate when people spread ignorance on any issue, not just ones considering factors that have something to do with me.

Re: Religious differences...
Im not sure about america, I would welcome christianty in my soiciety. In a small village the church does only good, and a little preaching of the new testament (on matters concerning morals, not god is the ONE) will help morals. However in america, to my knowledge, the take it alot more seriosly. Maybe you could comprimise and use to live a lifestyle, go to church with her, but not actually believe in god. Though if god has 'helped her' she's probaly a crazy bitch.

Re: Religious differences...

Religion intermingling with politics itself has also caused more harm than good.
Religion ideally can be a good thing. Just like communism.
But just like communism it was abused in the hands of men.
I am saying religion in relation to humanity overall is not a good thing.
Yeah, just don't blame something when it's not the true source. I hate when people spread ignorance on any issue, not just ones considering factors that have something to do with me.
This is far from ignorance. It is ignorant to turn a blind eye towards the correlating trend that appears.
Because someone does not agree with your ideals does not attribute to ignorance.

Why, so he can get laid in two years when they're married, and be unhappy for the rest of his life because he has to second guess everything he does in case the Great Overseer might find out?
Fuck that. Eject that bitch right now.
Maybe I'm just being sacreligious, but wouldn't God want us to grow out of our infancy and dependance on him/her/it, and go on to bigger and better things?
