Default So When God Made Little Boys & Little Girls, He Done Made Them DIfferent.

My wife ,who has recovered to a point where she no longer just needs a gown and a diaper, has now been moved over to the ayslum, and needs 'stuff'.

Stuff, you understand, is a male technical expression for things like clothes. Things to which most men attach little or no import.

I'm male, so clothes= paraboots, jeans, tshirt...if its cleanish, then thats a bonus.

Women, on the other hand....

Now don't get me wrong, my wife really isn't vain. She never wears makeup (for religious reasons mainly) and she goes to the hairdressers about as often as a politican tells the truth. Nor does she spend her weekends trying to rebalance the National Debt in stores such as NEXT.

But she does have clothes..

Lots (measured by my male standards) of clothes.

Lots and lots and lots.

Who on earth needs more than 3 pairs of jeans?!?!

I stopped counting tops after I ran out of fingers.

How many feet does a woman have??! I sure as hella have only ever seen 2 on her at a time. When does she need to wear so many pairs of shoes?

Anyway, suitcase is *packed*.

No doubt filled with things that any sensible person would see at a glance SHE COULDN'T POSSIBLY WEAR.

And I'm off to see her.

Oh btw girls, do you all have more than ten pairs of knickers?! A knicker drawer that isn't so much a knicker drawer but a hobby and possible collection?

I allways get called 'scabby' when I wear the same things too much.

I dont know about you lot but I get quite sweaty when I'm active, and the idea of putting on something I've been sweating in all day after having a nice shower is gross

So yeah, most of my clothes are baggy jeans and black saggy cardigans, but I'll be damned if I'm going to own any less than 6 pairs of each.

I've got.. a few pairs of shoes, but they're all nescessary! Essential even!
I've got a pair of work trainers. I've got a pair of pink boots for showy days. I've got my asskicking boots for times of danger.I've got some hiking boots. I've got some sweedish house shoes that are vital for avoiding frostbite. I've got a pair of 10 inch heels when I'm out to make people think I'm not a midget and pull. I've got a pair of vital fluffy pink boots for raving, and a black version for goth clubs. I've got some formal interview shoes and a blue alternative incase they clash with my clothes.

How can that be weird? It is vital to have the right shoes for the moment.

My one pair of shoes I have owned for two years. They're plain leather ones formal enough to wear into nice restaurants, but casual enough to go anywhere else. They're comfortable and work for pretty much any physical activity I would ever need to do involving my feet.

Having dozens of shoes is like having dozens of toothbrushes. Pointless.

(Sorry for the shitty analogy.)

When women buy clothes, they buy anything they think makes them look good in, when men buy clothes we buy them to replace that shirt that got ragged enough that we decided to use it to clean the grease off our hands.

Ugh. I have so many shoes they have to be moved into boxes in the basement according to seasons. Of course I don't wear half of them. But here are a few of my favorites:

my houndtooth slippers which are the comfiest shoes EVER. I bought another pair for when these ones die.

my wooden Scholls sandals that have a chip in them now so I don't wear them anymore.

My boots that look like sneakers that I searched for for almost 2 years until I found them again.

Kneehigh, white, suede, fur-lined eskimo boots. Essential for those days when it's -30 with a windchill of -45 and you have to go shovel the driveway.

Anyway. Girls have a weird thing with clothes. I don't know what it is. We're all insane. Underwear collections, shoe collections, purse collections, 5 different versions of the same sweater... yeah. Our clothes are to us what tools are to men. Ever try taking a powertool away from a guy? Not pretty. And they never have enough!

I thought we had a forum for fashion...?

If you think you can't clean off motor oil with something you're gonna wear again, you're a faggot and probably a communist.

That said, I probably have a fairly large wardrobe for a dude. And three pairs of boots, plus two pairs of shoes. And some really expensive underwear.

1 pair combat boots.
1 pair running shoes (also have an old pair that's comfy as fuck, but leaks)
1 pair boxing shoes

2 pairs jeans
1 pair black pants
1 pair kakhis
1 pair dress pants (in fact, it's a full pinstripe suit)
1 pair camo pants
1 pair cargo pants
2-3 shorts

5+ plain white t-shirts (I can't keep them too clean)
1 plain black t-shirt
5 dress shirts, usually dark colours in a pattern
1-2 polos
5 turtlenecks
2 hoodies
1 bomber jacket (my pride and joy)
1 black leather jacker
1 black flag shirt (cuz I'm HARDCORE!!!) http://www.interpunk.com/itemimages3/96489.jpg

Ever since I stopped growing, that's been my wardrobe. I haven't updated it in ages, and I see no need to. This has been good to me my entire school career and it will remain probably till I'm 30.

Heh, I have a lot more clothes than my girlfriend.

Shoes... I have dress shoes, desert boots or pure white trainers for wearing out. Steel toe-capped shoes for work and boots for working at home, then another few different types of trainers which lay in different positions around the house so I never have to look too far for footwear. Oh, and old trainers for painting.

I have about 5 or 6 pairs of jeans, a few pairs of combats, loads of tracksuit bottoms, and protective motorbike trousers of course. T-shirts are uncountable. About 5 zip-up hoodies and a few pull-overs... I have stopped using drawers and all my clothes lie in 3 piles. Clean, dirty and in-between. It's easier that way.

My sister has over 15 pairs of shoes. I want to strangle her.

There was this kid in my high school, male, who had over 30 pairs of shoes. I laughed at him every day because his family was pretty poor but he still spent his money on shoes (probably over 2-3 grand) rather than treat his family, or go on vacation, or something. Hell, for 2-3 grand you can go to Cuba for a week or two, stay at an all-inclusive hotel, and drink another 5-10 grand worth of alcohol and cigars, free.

Some people have no money sense.

On this scale, I could be called gay I think!

I got about 11 pairs of jeans, a bunch of old jeans that got cut down to shorts, God knows how many tshirts, some smart shirts, 3 ties, a few jumpers, 2 suits and 4 pairs of shoes (1 pair of boots, which I always wear, 1 pair of trainers and two pairs of smart shoes for work and/or funerals.)

But really and truly, all I wear is jeans and tshirts 95% of the time. As long as they are clean. I can't stand stinking!
I think I'd definitely be labeled gay if anyone saw my aftershave collection! :p

Oddly enough, I haven't used aftershave in over a year. I find it irritates my skin. I prefer to wash my face with cold water, then pat dry after a shave. Much better.

I usually use hand cream or something after I shave (when you shave as much and as often as I do, aftershave gets expensive!)...I use aftershave (or cologne if I used the wrong word) just to smell good.

I think you're confusing aftershave/cologne with moisturiser or soothing balm. You certainly don't want to be putting cologne on your face!

I never said I wanted to put cologne on my face, I don't know why you assume that cologne is the same as aftershave. Moisturizers and soothing balms are just as bad as aftershave for my face. I've tried putting it all on my face, and nothing is as good as a vasoconstrictor or soother of skin as water.

Water, the best liquid on earth.

(after Beer, Vodka, Bourbon, Gin, Whiskey, Rye, Scotch, White Wine, Red Wine, Tequila, Amaretto, Cognac, Rum, and Vermouth.)

I have 4 Hoodies that I alternate between because I don't want people thinking I wear the same thing all the time and I'm cheap cause I have nothing else.

I think...5 pairs of jeans.

About 3 pairs of 'cargo' pants

Something like...7 Beanies haha and I'm not even a beanie wearer

There would be easily over 10 caps about 3 of which might see occasional wear.

I have shit loads of socks, it's as if they breed in my drawer. No idea how many I have rough guess maybe 30 pairs?

X2 Pairs of shoes and one pair of adidas sandals

I also have a lot of shirts

.....And none of that counts what I wear for work EEK! and I have two sets of work

True dat except what women think looks good underneath and what men think looks good are worlds apart.

To be frank, most of the modern undies I see are more a turn off than on.

Plain white cotton briefs with the days of the week on always hit the spot. Lacy boy-shorts are just naff.

Maybe 5 more with long sleeves
3 rugby jerseys
1shirt I could wear with a tie should I need to(not that I have suitable pants)

1 pair of sweats
maybe as many as 10 pairs of jeans(most are pretty mangled)
about as many shorts
5 pairs of shoes:o(1 white 1 black 2 with holes and 1 I got for flipping burgers when that was my thing.
Oh and one pair of sandles and one pair of flip flops

I don't know about other women, but I do have a problem letting go of some articles of clothing. Only if I really didn't like the way I felt wearing them will I normally get rid of them. If they happen to be a little tight, I think that maybe if I drop some weight I'll wear them again. If they happen to be a little loose, I might save them for times of weight gain or when I'm feeling fat and frumpy.

Only ten pairs of panties though?!?!

I have no "collection" in my panty drawer, but all thirty pairs are sensible, practical, and essential.

Everytime I go to Tesco's (at least once a week) I buy a 5 pack of knickers. I think I have about 200 pairs in rotation at the mo!

Oddly I find it rather comforting and not at all weird.

I also have at least two clean pairs in my bag or pockets and would be mortified if I went out without.

In contrast I only have 6 bras two of which I never wear.

Don't get me started on shoe's though, even I know I need therapy!

Not quite sure which worries me most, the Obsessive Complusive Knicker Buying or the fact you go to Tescos....

Even Norfolk people don't go to Tesco.

I like to keep just over a week's worth of boxers, socks, and undershirts. Most of the upper layers like jeans and hoodies you can wear 3 +/- 2 days if they're not getting scuzzy, unless you need them on a daily basis.

In fact, I need to replace most of the clothing I have. You should have three basic sets - lounge and exercise, utility, and formal.

And if you couldn't tell, I don't believe in Sean Paul semi-formal metrosexual wear for the clubs, because I don't go to them, or want to look like a prancer.

My manager queeried my personal hygene at work the other day.
Since starting there I've been provided one set of whites. One.
And I'm working in the place every damn day so I dont know how the fuck he expects me to keep them super duper clean.

And the other day he commented on how 'grubby' the top looked, and said he didnt know what my situation at home was but that he had concerns for my personal hygene.

I glared at him and said "I shower three times a day. Dont you dare accuse me of being dirty just because I have difficulties keeping my one work top clean."

then I proceeded to take the top off and work in my vest for the rest of the evening. I'd rather work naked than have someone insult my personal hygene.

If you ever need a dishpig willing to work under such conditions, let me know.

2 pairs of shoes, cool ones and sport ones
2 nice shirts for going out and looking good
5 shirts for being lazy in (i like being lazy k)
2 pairs of jeans, one baggy one skinny
1 black leather jacket, one green velvet jacket
4 pairs of sunglasses, purple ones, aviators, cheap plasticy ones and rave ones.

The only item i wear that i take real pride in are my sunglasses, it's like i put them on and i'm a different person. Purple sunglasses just make me awesome, aviators make me badass, plasticy ones make me able to survive hangovers and oh the rave ones. oh the rave ones.

1 pair of casual shoes
1 pair of goofing around shoes

About 12 pairs of jeans
1 pair of corduroys
1 full suit
4 collored shirts
some 17 t-shirts
about 5 pairs of shorts
an uncountable amount of socks and boxers
5 pairs of mesh running/workout shorts
1 wet-suit for scuba-diving/jet skiing

3 hats (1 trucker, 1 beanie, 1 fedora for the suit)

Some 10 pairs of sunglasses... (hey, I like sunglasses!)

2 pairs of polarized glasses for fishing
2 dark formal looking pair for the suit (assuming its sunny)

I own 3 pairs of jeans, maybe 3 or 4 skirts, too many tshirts to count, a few hoodies and maybe 6 pairs of shoes. And plenty of socks/panties/bras.

Not much IMO.

Yeah... I've had this conversation with my girl friend.

When she finds a pair of sandals she likes, she'll go to the store and buy them in EVERY color. It's a bit excessive.

I don't think men will ever be able to understand this phenomenon.

I have:
1 pair of sandals [ which is what I wear almost all the time. The half-enclosed kind]
1 pair of shoes [ which i wear if i have to wear shoes]
1 pair of deck shoes [for when I go sailing]
1 pair of dress shoes [my dad's a bitch about that stuff]

4 t-shirts
4 pairs of shorts
2 pairs of socks
1 hat [ It's a cool one though ]

That's all. Is that too much, because that's what I think. I have 4 pairs of clothes, but I wash them once a week.

I've got you beat; Two pairs of jeans, 10 tshirts, no hoodies, 4 pairs of shoes(tennis shoes, running, work, and one nice pair of dress shoes those special occasions), and ten pairs of shocks.

I have tons of clothes, but most of them don't fit me anymore.
What's even more annoying is that at the moment, all the clothes I DO fit, I can't wear (at least as far as pants go) because the cast on my leg doesn't agree with jeans, tights, and stockings grrr.

I do have a lot of shoes (most of which I don't wear now) and a number of dresses.

The joys of being female....

These strange brown pants match this hoodie perfectly, if I'm feeling modest, but if I'm in a sexy mood, I'll wear it with this, this, or this top (varying degrees of sexiness or colors). I pick my shoes by what I'm doing (parading through the park, sitting around all day), style, color, and the weather. Can't forget the coat, if I need one at all. It has to match my entire overall look I'm going for, or totally stand out, but that's part of the look thing. It also has to be be practical. I'm not going to get started on the underwear, which can be just as complicated.

Congrats if you read the whole thing, and double it if it made sense.

(That was so much fun to write)
