Default Someone explain this to me...

He asked, "If you were offered the chance to have one year of perfect bliss, but you would have to forget everything at the end, would you take it?" I hemmed and hawed, asked technical questions. I finally said yes. He leaned in to whisper in my ear: "Well, you've already had your year of perfect bliss." I pricked with curiosity. "You were wonderful." He swore he made that up. I had gotten so into the mind game, it worked. He got the hookup.

This is a successful pickup scenario, but I don't understand the last part of the line. You've already had your year of perfect bliss? You were wonderful? Wtf?

Maybe I'm too stoned or just totally missed it... I don't know. Someone enlighten me, please.

You forget everything at the end. DURRRRR!

You had it, but you can't remember, as per the original agreement.

What don't you get?

I understand that she forgets at the end... but what is the point of the last two lines? "You were wonderful?" Is that supposed to imply that the guy was a part of her year of bliss? Or is it simply supposed to stimulate positive feelings?

I don't get it.

The 'he swore he made that up' could be that he swore he made up that pickup line.

the 'you were wonderful' would imply that he was part of her perfect year of bliss, of which she has forgotten everything, including him etc.
