Who else wants a baby?
Ok. So I've wanted a baby for about the past two years now. I'm nearing 20 and thus far it hasn't happened. I've more or less been with the same girl during this peroid, but I've had my share of other partners during this time(no moral lessons please, if you only knew the half of it), but it still hasn't happened. I've been to the doc and he says I'm good to impregnate and STD free.
I'll be leaving my estranged lover within the next few weeks and pretty sure I have something good going with someone else. I'm sure I want this because I haven't swayed from it for two years and think that's solid enough, no? Perhaps I need some foundation to affirm that I can live a normal life.
The past two years of my life have been full blown chaos. I'm a problem drinker(not a drunk) and know I've drifted through each day a petty criminal without purpose.
I know I'm way classier than that. I simply want a nice girl who is sane and capable of child bearing. Does any, especially young people, feel like this?

Re: Who else wants a baby?
It sounds kind of like you dont want a baby as such, you more crave the security of a stable relationship that would be secure enough to rear a child in.
20 is seriously young to have a kid. I know many people have children at this age, but it's so young. There's so much to do and explore and a child would restrict that.
I dont ever want children. I've got so many dreams I want to atleast try and achieve in real life, and a kid would tie me down and trap me in and then I'd never be free.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
I don't really know any girls that want a child untill their older, but I agree with you. Id love kids when im older, but think about it you cant really support them without a house and good income, why not live your life untill your 30's meet new girls and have a blast then settle down as you get older? Thats what i live by anyway :P

Re: Who else wants a baby?
I've always been iffy on kids. Sometimes I want kids, sometimes I don't. All I know is that I don't want to raise a kid from being a baby. If I ever have a kid, it's going to be adopted. I have no problem with the fact that it won't be related to me.

I'm 17, and I would love a kid.
I'm gonna leave it 'till about 25-30 though. Things I wanna do y'know?
Having a kid means you have little to no time for social life. Unless your partner doesn't mind being a recluse so you can go out.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
My gf want/ed/s one, she was 18, 19 now and yeah, definetly not. You're in no position at all to be raising a child, get settled and stable or forget about it, or at least a much harder time of it and much near a child with adequate care.

I want a baby or two... just not yet. 21 is too early (personally). I'd just chill and wait until you have some $ and stability, then go for it.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
Hell no. I have shit I want to do with my life. I've seen studies, people who have kids are more depressed, more stressed out, more likely to get a divorce, etc. Fuck that.
But if I some how ended up in that situation (drink too much) I would handle everything responsibly of course.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
I wanted one for the past couple years too...I'm 23 btw.
My desire was always stemmed by the fact that the thought of my partner at the time bearing my child was unthinkable. She was 18, and completely clueless on her own.
The girl I'm dating now is 28. And she wants a child as much as I do. We even tried once or twice, but it just never happened. After that, we decided to wait a little longer until I was more secure financially. Not that I'm not right now, just...more secure. I even caught her ovulating at one point, but we were going through a rough patch at the time and the circumstances were less then idea. So I ended up bringing her the plan B instead.
It's only a matter of time though. Whenever I look at her, I know she's going to be the mother of my children. And soon.

There will never be a right time nor will you ever have enough money.
Thats the simple truth.
If you both want a child then just do it.
Your youth is perhaps the single most important reason why now IS the right time. Every month you wait, the harder it will make it for you both. And at 28 her biological clock is ticking.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
My biggest fear with a child is that it will turn out "special". At this place my cousin (7yo) plays soccer, one of the kids is a dwarf, and I almost cry every time I see him. I'm just thankful my cousin isn't one, and I feel for the family who has that child.
I wouldn't love my child any less if he was different, I'd just feel sorry for him that it would break my heart. Same thing if he died before me. I can't handle that sort of grief. Seriously, for a guy who loves to get into fights and beat people half to death, I'm a little girl on the inside when it comes to these things.

Actually I'm the same. ALthough one of my kids was born a cripple I'm a total wuss about such things.
For example,I can't look at Down's Syndrome kids cos I can always see the 'ghost' of the child that should have been there.
But you also have to bear in mind that your 'normal' child can become 'special' real fast. Only takes one idiot in a car or some virus.

That's even more scary. Basically, the worrying never ends. I think I'd much rather be a cool uncle or something. That way I can have all the love and enjoyment kids bring, while never having that 100% dependency.
Maybe I should just man up and stop being a wuss.

Re: Who else wants a baby?

It's generally said by doctors that I cant have children, yes. But then they proceed to say "but there's allways a chance".
So. I'd rather not gamble with something as important as a childs life, so I take no chances and use the Depot-Provera shot. Maybe having that shot is futile and silly, perhaps it's like..making a stable for horses that wont ever show up or something, but yeah. There's no fun or thrill in taking risks that may involve children.
I was a very stupid girl when I was younger. Apart from large quantities of methamphetamine, I got into fights and got hit alot. I didnt eat very well at all and I excersiezed excessively (still do kinda).
I think it's a kind of amenorrhoea but I dont really care.
And now I'll thank you not to be so nosy.

Sorry to hear that. It stinks that you can't have one, and me, a perfectly healthy male, was thinking of getting my nuts tied the other day. I guess I have a responsibility to not be such a fucktard and think things over. It is human life we're talking about.
Don't worry about doctors though. If they say there is a chance, they know there is one. They probably think you will eventually have a kid and don't want to get sued by telling you that you can't ever conceive.
Besides, kids are stinky.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
You will probably want to wait a little longer, most doctor's say the best years to have kids are 22 to 34, people who have kids before 22 tend to have kids with lung and heart problems, and people over 34 tend to have kids with neurological problems.

Re: Who else wants a baby?
I don't want to have kids until I'm at least 25 or 26. I figure that by then I'll have somewhat of a stable life and I'll be able to provide for a family more readily than I would be able to now at 19. I definitely want kids one day, but it doesn't have to be immediately.
