Default I've discovered why we're here

It's because it's possible. Think about this. Have you ever tried to imagine dying, and having nothing happen? It wouldn't be possible, at all. You would have no concept of time, or reality, virtually anything. Thus nothingness is an impossibility, which gives me the idea that the only reason that we're here is because it is possible. Science makes sense, planets are round and they rotate around eachother, each lifeform breeds another, and all matter can be broken down into atoms. We're never going to discover anything new that doesn't make sense because the only reason it makes sense is because it is possible. So, we have this. A situation that is possible, thus is exists. It just makes sense to the point where distance and time become a factor, and we haven't the ability to prove anything more.

Based on this I believe that when we all die, our souls will just take the form of something else, and it will make sense again. The idea that I'm living my one life, right here, right now, is just too coincidental.

you say it wouldnt be possible but you dont know that, because you havent died yet. now im gonna to say this jokeingly but also sort of seriously- if you truly want to prove your point kill your self then say that.

theres absolutly no way at all you can say you know what happens when you die for two reasons, only one is 100 percent un-debatable.

1. youve never died, how can you know what happens after you die if you havent died.....which leads to the second

2. no one else has died and told you about it. now people have been pronounced dead and have come back ill give you that. but no ones died, stayed dead, then told anyone all about it. this is barring the little old ladys with the crystal balls talkin to dear ole auntie claire and shit, im not counting those all though they can be argued if someone wants to what the hell you know.

you prove your hypothosis invalid when you say ' You would have no concept of time, or reality, virtually anything'....EXACTLY how would you know whats going on, your fucking dead, youve stopped working, your lights are out, etc etc etc.

now in defense of this whole whatever. if i were to die and discover an afterlife i would probably not give a shit about this one, its going to be either way better or way worse. if its better than ill never look back, if its way worse then ill obviously be forced into it with no way out. this arguement is barring a limbo state, which i really dont have much on.

all of this brought to you by an atheist, not like it matters much to be but just so its out there for the pick apart debators.

I pretty much 99.9% agree with you.

And the withheld .1% is just because I'm an ass.

So... do you remember before you were born? No, it was nothing, no time, reality, or anything. Why is death different then pre-life?

This does not follow logic. How exactly is nothingness an impossibility?

No you haven't. You're presupposing purpose. Reason needs no purpose. If you can prove purpose accompanies reason, then you've discovered that there is a 'why' to the whole matter of existence and the mechanisms that perpetuate it. Still though, even with the knowledge of there being a purpose, you would have no answer as to what it actually is.

For some good inspiration on thoughts such as these, I'd suggest a couple joints and an album by the Moody Blues called "A Question of Balance".

Actually, it doesn't follow anything at all. The OP fails.

Okay, so according to you, we're because it's permitted.

That's not a very strong statement, Of course we wouldn't be here if it wasn't possible.

Saying" we're here because we are, and I'm to shallow to imagine anything else," isn't a grade A argument by any standard.

The question is how the hell do you know your dead, if your saying its like before you were born, well You were nothing before that, and well you cant remember shit. You sir are a dumb ass.

To dust you shall return. That implies nothing. NOTHING, special happens other than people cry over you. Thats humanity's problem. Attachment to other people. We are nothing but animals.

That doesn't mean I don't believe in a higher being,.

not everything that is possible happens. it is possible that i stop writing this directly after i say these 3 words: "you are wrong"

i havent stopped writing. you could say somewhere on a parralel world the equivalent of me did stop after saying those 3 words. but then that wouldnt be me doing that would it? itd be one of the many parralel me.

its possible that i could do many different things straight after posting this, but i cant do all of them, thats not possible, but its possible that i do any one of them, and by your logic if its possible its true, so i have to do everything possible all at once straight after writing this, which is impossible.

your logic shows that if its possible, its impossible

So you say everything happens because it's possible.
What makes it possible?

What was it like before you were born. Before you were even a little fetus. Can you remember?

Well doesn't it make sense that where we came from, is where we're going? Otherwise it's like we're helpless toys on an assembly line built from scratch that will one day end up in a giant heap of junk.
If you believe that the soul harnesses the mind and body, then reincarnation or afterlife is very possible.
But if our mind is truly our only supporter, then we will return to the earth. Which is terrifying.

Other things to consider is the fact that electric currents run through our brains. Electricity cannot be destroyed, and cannot be created (it has to be conducted). Therefore it was always there (since birth) and will always remain.

Another thing to consider is the theory that earth was created from stardust, which supports your argument.
So being that, as you say, everything happens because it's possible, that would mean the stardust would combine to form a gravitational pull with earth surrounding a molten center, then some living organisms like plants, then animal cells, throughought the centuries, some animal cells would grow, develop legs arms and a head, then eventually a brain , eventually becoming a monkey, a homosapien, then the modern human.

Then they invented the internet and kids like me stayed up untill 2:30 trying to express his views to a forum that probably doesn't even care, as half the members are too young to understand anyways.

Whatever. Life can be good so just don't die, and don't kill anyone, use protection if you don't want kids or std's, and don't get addicted to anything. That's really all you need to know about life.
