Default Meet Up

Could someone schedule a Meet Up (http://www.totse.com/en/meetup/) in their part of the world?

I want to try adding a Meet Up forum that pulls in RSS feeds from the Meet Up web site specific to totse users, but no one has started a totse group or set up a totse meet.

Seems we have quite a few here in the southern states (oklahoma, texas, louisiana, arizona, new mexico etc etc.)

Who knows... meet new people, see weird funny faces, be molested by some crazy person who appeared sane on the internet. Y'know, the regular life stuffs.

Although new people scare me, and new people that already know a small bit about me scare the shit out of me.

I went up to the point where it asked me to pay for the service.

I would, I just dont have any debit or credit cards (that work).

I hope this post doesn't deter anyone. There's a chance I'm doing it wrong.

I know there are enough of us in the central ohio area to do something like that - In fact, I went to the same highschool as most of them. In the past, people were just too afraid of who might show up to their meetup if they make it public. Because of that, people tended to arrange their meetups through IRC and other places than totse.

I like the idea though. I'll consider having a meet up in columbus or springfield (ohio) sometime soon.

That's the problem with living in the UK, most Totseans live in the States.

As for meetings Totseans, there's only one that I never want to meet...And I've already met NerdFangs (who pretty much straight away asked if I had any coke).

But as far as I can tell, meet ups tend to be arranged through IRC more than anywhere else.

If there is a meet up in San Antonio, Houston, or Austin or any surrounding areas, I would go. And I would only go on the basis of there being ...punch and pie. Anywhere else is too expensive for me to travel.

I think I've found the reason why nobody's started one.

Step 2: Choose a plan.

6 months for only $12/month - Recommended
(billed in one payment of $72)
3 months for only $15/month
(billed in one payment of $15)
1 month for only $19/month
(billed in one payment of $19)

All memberships auto-renew at the end of the billing period.

Nobody's going to pay to organise a meetup when they can do it through IRC or on the forums. Unless there's a free provider for this kind of service I think meet-up threads should be allowed on the forum if the meet isn't affiliated with Totse in any way.

EDIT: Okay, juke_box_hero already found that reason. But really, nobody's going to pay for it, surely?

You can't let one bad nut ruin the bunch.

I've met a handful of people that post on totse.

After seing how some pathetic fucks treated you Mr Happy, I've no desire to meet generic totseans. I've no respect for them anymore.
Considering you're one of the nicest, decentestand friendliest mods on totse, the way they acted was disgracefull.

What?

What the hell? MeetUp used to be a free service. I don't know when it switched to a pay service.

Let me go find a free service...

Shit happens, I didn't expect any better reaction and the crap was mostly from people who have something against me anyway. Plenty of decent people left too, so don't let this put you off those ones. Thanks for caring, though :) Some peoples' responses were quite touching. It's a nice way to know who your friends are. Plus, the whole thing turned out quite nicely for me anyway. /thread derailment.

I remember MeetUp being a free service too. $12 a month just to store some details on a site and send out a couple of reminders is extortionate.
