Default Pursing a relationship with an astonishing friend...fearful

I'll be as straightforward as possible. I have an amazing friend. Female. I've led a generally pessimistic life, and I've had just as many relationship troubles as my friend, who just happened to be left devastated after a horrible relationship. She's also, unfortunately, led a similar lifestyle as me; horrible luck, awful situations. This is why I've fallen for her....the only person I've ever trusted to this degree, and the only person who I understand has went through as many downers as I have in life.

Our similarities are eerie, I've never met a person so similar to me in this many ways. I'm not even kidding about this.

At this point, I'm scared. I've always believed in acting decisively, but in this situation, I can't. I've fallen for the greatest friend I've ever had. It's risky....I'd be mortified if I destroyed our friendship, but I'm convinced I'd be the happiest of my life if I were to become romantically involved. I feel as if everything in my life is a worthy sacrifice just to be with her. I've told her this...and I know this is what her general opinion is on a relationship between us. The near exact one as mine.

I'm looking for a serious relationship in this person, and I would really appreciate decent answers from another person's perspective.

So wait, youve talked to her about it and she feels the same way about you? Well then tell her that you feel that you 2 should try going out, but make a promise that if it doesnt work out, then you will still be friends.

The friendship is important...But you would like to be something more than a friend to her.

Unless she's into the whole fuck buddies, let the thing escalate to something realy meaningful, you're not gonna have much luck.

If you guys can promise yourselves that no matter what happens, you'll be friends, go for it. But it's nigh on impossible to just be friends again without feeling something more for them or getting really angry whenever a guy hits on her.

Talk to her about it and see what you guys can work out mate.

i suggest you do what ever you really want to do and what makes you happy. if you two are as good a friends as you say you are then i dont see what can go wrong. if you guys break up i would imagine you two would remain friends (from what i deduced from your post). i went out with a chick that i was really close to and then we broke up. now we are friends who also have sex occasionally, so it didnt end up badly.

edit:^^^dude when i go and do shit with her and her friends i laugh at the feeble attempts guys make to "pick her up". i think that after the relationship is completely over and you realize that, it makes shit a lot easier.

I appreciate it, guys. I'm clear on my priorities. I'm certain I wouldn't fuck things up with us regarding friendship. I couldn't see it.

It's worth it all to be with her, and that's what I'm gonna focus on.

I have been in the exact same goddamn situation.

If yours follows my example: It won't work out, but actually won't be fantastically awkward afterwards.

So, I don't hope, but you should try it just in case.

I went for one of my closest friends and everything turned out great. We've been together for around 7 months now and I couldn't be happier.

Good luck. :)
