So, I went to the Emergency Room this morning...
My brother drove me, I was having really bad stomach pains and throwing up blood... We get there, and I check in. I'm 17, so they tell me I need an adult/legal guardian. I call my dad and tell him to meet me up at the ER. He says he'll be there in a few minutes...
I'm waiting, and he calls back and tell me that MY MOTHER wont let him have the car to come meet me. She has a fucking Pool tournament (Billiards for all you guys who don't call it "Pool") and she's afraid that she'll miss it. FUCK HER.
Her reasoning; "It's not that bad, it's just a stomach ache".
Well, my brother drives back to the house, gives my dad our car, and he drives to the ER. When he finally gets here, I go back, get an I.V. (pain medication, fluids since I haven't eaten or drank anything, anti-nausea stuff), then a CAT scan.
The doctor is afraid I have Appendicitis. Yah know, that thing that can kill people. The results get back from the CAT scan and blood work... He says that if I do have it, it hasn't developed enough for them to tell. So, they send me home with prescriptions for pain pills and stomach medicine, and tell me if it still hurts tomorrow, to come back to the ER.
So, I'm pretty fucking pissed at my mother. She essentially abandoned me. She's so fucking narcissistic.
Someone tell me what I should do? I've been ignoring her. She probably has no idea why. I mean... God damn what she did was so wrong.
Am I right?

Erm. . . appendicitis? I was under the impression that when one gets appendicitis-ya know, your appendix; that little part in your body that has been deemed useless by the science department for the passed hundred-something-odd years- that you simply get it removed before it ruptures.
It's only fatal if you leave it untreated, in which case I'm wondering what in the blue hell the Doctors sent you home for.
Other than that: stop being dramatic. You'll live. If the Doctors dont cooperate, remove it with a nice pair of kitchen scissors

Yeah, when my sister had suspected appendicitis, they took it out anyway, rather than take the risk.

The doctor told us that no surgeon would remove it without it first being confirmed on a CAT Scan.

The Hospital is about 10 minutes away...

Yeah, I forgot to set the odometer. I was probably too busy holding back all the gagging and spasming.
My best guess is it's about 8 miles.

Well tomorrow when it still hurts and is about to burst call her into you room so she can see you die because she wanted to play her precious game of pool. Tell her it was all her fault right before too, that'll teach her.

His wife wouldn't let him take the car for a possible medical emergency? And he just swallows and says ok?????!

I'd just tell her to fuck off and not to speak to me again. Then proceed to start doing everything that she has told me not to do, like smoke in the house, do drugs, openly do drugs in the house, steal (lots) of money from her purse.
Heh yea, if my mum abandoned my in hospital I actually would do all of that, fuck her, if she isn't going to care enough about me, then fuck it.

My parents haven't slept in the same bed since 1999. My mother is Bi-Polar, Schizophrenic, and has Narcissistic tendencies. All that means is that she is unable to consider anyone else besides herself. It's always about her. Basically, the world revolves around her needs.
She doesn't have a job, all she does is plays the "maid" role by cleaning the house occasionally, then goes to play Pool 6 nights a week.
My dad actually got incredibly pissed at her, and when he tried explaining it to her that he needs the car, she pitched a god damn hissy fit. I s'pose rather then get into a huge argument with her, he just wanted to get to the ER.
Fuck, my family is fucked up.
She has lost all of my respect. As of right now, I only have one parent.

If you read my sticky you'll known that I have a lot of sympathy for the husbands of insane wives.
However, hissy fit or no, there is a limit and it was his duty to simply put his foot down.
In that he failed.
Even if she then did something really bad.

Either way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vermiform_appendix
Medical literature shows that the appendix is not generally credited with significant function. . . The most common explanation is that the appendix is a vestigial structure with no absolute purpose.
Kudos to you for effort :D

Do you beleive everything you read on wikipedia?!
:(
Anyway this isnt a doctors forum about medical operations or the use or uselessness of the apendix. This is about a poor kid with a bitch of a mother who's so fucking useless and selfish she chose her own crappy game over the potential life threatening illness of her child.
Why the fuck does she even have kids if she doesent care about them? That's just scary.
I think ignoring her utterly and negating her as a parent should hurt her adequately. Dont start being a delinquent little shit though, because that will hurt other members of your family as well.

its not that it has a use or not its that its use is so minimal that without it you stand a batter chance of living a long life then you do with it
and welcome to earth if you think this is the first time something like this has happened
and about why she has kids even the crazy laDY ON MY STREET (omg capslock) has kids and she took a swing at somekid for crossing the road to close to her

Yeah it's true that for alot of people the appendix is utterly useless. But I've a shit imune system, which I can see now after this little..bug, I caught, and the appendix seems to store some good infection fighting cells.
I was sad that this woman has kids when she doesent care for them, but I know that by no means is she the only crap person in the world who should have been neutered at birth.
And welcome to earth? I've been here longer than you have and no doubt I'll still be around when you're long gone. I dont mean that in a "go die" way, btw. :)

Indeed. What the hell did they need a legal guardian for? It's not like his dad would have come and said "Nah, it's ok, let the kid die", and the doctors would've replied with "k bai".

Re: So, I went to the Emergency Room this morning...
Well... if your mom has actual mental disorders, I would find it difficult to be all that mad at her.
I have an autistic brother. Now when he comes into my room and closes my door, he does it because something in his brain tells him the door should be closed. Do I get mad at him? Sometimes. Should I get mad at him? No, not really, because he has a mental disorder and I respect that.
If these mental disorders are mild enough that she's just more apt to be self-absorbed then it would seem like a gray area.
Either way, this problem seems like it has too many sides to it to clearly blame fault. Your dad seems like a pushover, but on the same side he didn't want an argument and your problem really isn't that serious. Then again, they didn't know what your problem was so they couldn't have judged how serious it could have been. The doctors wouldn't accept you without a legal gaurdian, but at the same time you aren't dying and they don't want legal troubles.
Once people start realizing the world isn't so cut and dry, easy to figure out, easy to point fingers, THEN maybe we'll have some real thinking being done.
In the end? You're fine. What you have is really not all that serious. I've known dozens of people with the same condition and all have had no problems once it was cleared up/taken care of. Whether you want to be immature and play silent treatment with your mother is up to you. I would recommend you sit down and talk to both of them about all these issues instead of just keeping them inside. Hopefully you already have.

I think the issue here is definitely not about you possibly dieing as much as the fact that your mother neglected you. But I guess you kind of stated that already. A child needing affection and support only to have neglect in return from their parents is one of the hardest things in life. I can't really imagine what it's like as my parents have always been there for me when I needed it most.
All I can offer is an anonymous stranger's sympathy.

Yeah, and I suppose prostate cancer caught early isn't that serious because you stand a good chance of surviving it.
Moron.
You do realize some parents are just flat-out unwilling to talk to their kids? Not talking to your bitch-for-a-mother isn't immature. The mother is immature for not giving two shits about her son.
I'm glad you had a privileged childhood.

KoldBane, it's not like I haven't tried to simply talk to her. There are other... Numerous occasions where she has "let me down", so to say. From those experiences I can tell you this; she will never change. I realized that long ago, it's just... What happened on this occasion has just brought me to a new level of how bad it is.
Like I said, she has a narcissistic personality. She simply can't comprehend other peoples point of views.
I haven't talked to her in... About a week and a half? Sure, &Totse was down which somewhat prohibited me with getting "real" advice... But I still feel I'm right. My brother has already expressed the reason why I'm upset and she had the gull to tell me "it [pool tournament] was a special occasion, I couldn't miss it". In my mind she just went;
"I have to go to this tournament, sure my son is sick... But there'll be other times for that, and this tourney is a once in a lifetime opporunity."
I'm not really angry anymore, I've just realized the scope of this situation. She's an old dog who will never learn, and I'll simply not waste my effort anymore. If she sees the world as her own, then she can have it that way.
I believe I'm well enough to take care of myself.
Anyway... Thanks for the advice and sympathy.

If she has a mental illness then she isn't responsible for her actions. However before I get ass fucked for saying that let me point out that you haven't mentioned whether she's taking medication or being treated. If she is getting treated then you should give her some lee way as she isn't responsible for her actions. Though it is her responsibility to make sure she takes her medication regularly and keeps trying to get better. Unfortunately you have to be the adult since she's ill.
If she isn't getting treated at all or skipping out on her medication then you have every right to be pissed at her and more so your dad. Why is he still with her and not addressing her mental illness? I agree with jack, he needs to man up either way and take charge even if she is ill.
