A tricky situation
I just graduated from high school in three years and two summer semesters.
I invited my old friends to come to the graduation, because they're the only people who I were the closest to.
After that, we drank champagne and sparked a joint.
I haven't smoked weed since a year, after a terrible acid trip that made me realize how my life rots when I'm stoned.
They started talking about the old friends, old circle, and how the older times were the good times.. The allowances and the quality of weed that they could get, how a common friend of ours got himself fucked up, who's at the "camp", et cetera.
I'm no longer interested in those.. and I don't know how I got into it in the first place.
I realize that once I go to college, I'll start going to parties, meet different new people, and do fun stuff. But this is about now.
The job I work is at my dad's, and it's been about three years since I worked there. The faces are the same. It's not a good source for finding new friends.
Right now, I don't have any friends that I hang out with. I'd like a new group, but that won't come till college.
I don't know how I ended up like this. :(

Re: A tricky situation
Aren't classes going to start really soon? Like, in a month?
What's wrong with staying in and reading a few books? Do you HAVE to go out every night and be around people? Is it insecurity, boredom or both?
You're going to be in college soon. If it's not as soon as you want it to be, why not go to a new bar or nightclub? Go call up a distant friend and hang out. Meet his people. Get a myspace page. There are lots of things to do if you get a better attitude. Don't think "I'm going nowhere with my life, life is so boring". And don't smoke weed if you know it depresses you.

Re: A tricky situation
Know the feeling man. All my old buddies are either working away or have kids now so I don't get much chance to go out and do stuff with them.
Just cruise around mate. Go to bars/pubs/clubs or whatever and get talking to people.

Just ignore it mate. That's what I did.
Eventually they'll get bored with that question. I hope.

Re: A tricky situation
I know how it feels to have shitty friends. Coming out of 6th grade I was close to social-reject status (clicks were just forming) It is probably too late for this but starting Junior Football got me a lot of new friends, including kids from the school that feeds the junior high other than my elementary, so I came into middle school with a head start. I'm 16 now and playing high-school football. I realize you can't join the football team now or meet new people through it, but find a club or organization to get involved with that you will meet new people at. Volunteer. Join a new gym. Trust me, you will find someone to hang out with, and he/she will have friends just as good.

Re: A tricky situation
All you can do is think positively, and try and make your future brighter.
Assuming that you live to be at least 80, you still have 3/4 of your life ahead of you.
That's a hell of a lot of time to turn things around.
