Guys dont care about giftwrap.
Seriously, women. Stop investing so much time in gift wrap and/or gift boxes.
We don't care about them at all.
Sure, we see it as a nice gesture, but really, give it up.
Have you ever met a man that would do all this (wrapping and such) for another one of his guy friends if he had the choice not to?
Also, do you know any man that would feel insulted if he did not get that oh-so-special gift wrap?

Especially when it looks really nice, but you rip it all up anyway because it's fucking wrapping paper, and they get mad like you just killed a small animal.

Uh...I don't think many girls care about giftwrap either. While a nicely wrapped gift might give me a small amount of pleasure, it's not like I don't realise that the wrapping is going to be destroyed anyway so it really doesn't matter. Girls aren't that stupid.

I'm in the wrong place.
This makes me wonder what the world would be like if it was full of totseans, and people were known as their screen names.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
^^Lol, I wonder if people would think I was a tranny or something in this world...
Also, to stay on topic, I think that alot of people wrap gifts nicely more for themselves than for the recipient. I like wrapping presents nicely, but it's because I get satisfaction out if it, not because I expect the person getting the gift to be impressed or unwrap it really carefully. Meh.

FUCKING TRUTH
An ex of mine once gave me a gift for Christmas. Me being a guy (and happy to get a gift at all) graciously accepted it, and tore the wrapping off like a child. She, gets all offended and starts a huge fight about it, saying how she took a long time to do the ribbon and everything. The whole ordeal was fucking stupid, I rather have not gotten the piece of shit gift she got me anyway.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I totally agree with the whole wrapping deal. Guys don't care. You could stick whatever it is inside a brown paper sack, and it would be fine with me. Hell, pull a Jack Osbourne and wrap it in aluminum foil if you want, I don't care. Hell, just wrap it with plastic bags and tape them together shittily.
Of course, if I give something I will try to make it look halfway decent. Maybe wrap it with actual paper and make an attempt at getting it all right. Not because it really matters, but more because I don't want to be embarassed because other people would think I'm weird or something.

I like a nicely wrapped gift. It's cute and womanly.
Of course I tear it apart really quickly, but still. Wrapping is awesome.

Wrapping paper is fun, but it's not like, I'll spend £5 on a fancy special sheet of stuff hand made by starving kids in africa.
I'll wrap gifts for my boyfriend usually, just because it seems more thoughtfull than just a stack of stuff being left there and me saying "there you go".
Allthough I got him a DS game the other day and didnt have the chance to wrap it as I was meeting him in a few minutes, he didnt really comment either way about the wrapping or lack of.
Perhaps mine is broken?

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I like wrapping paper, it adds suspense to the suprise. Although the one I'm least fond of it a small thing like a shaving razor and after shavewrapped up like a bottle of whiskey. Although I am fond of a bottle of whiskey wrapped up like a couch, that one is always good.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I am going to show this thread to my boyfriend and I'll post his response.
I thought wrapping stuff up was nice, and fun, and it makes the gift more special than just chucking something at someone in an attempt to get rid of them, like throwing buns at pigeons in a park to get them to leave you alone.
It's also a sense of pride, and for myself in a way.
At christmas time I got some lovely shiny rainbowey wrapping paper, and each time I bought a present for someone I'd wrap it and stack it in the corner.
It felt really nice, like I'd achieved something,to see that pile of nicely wrapped gifts for everyone.

When I want the birds to leave me, I throw little children at them. And vice versa.

Children just dont cut it in this City, I'm afraid. The pigeons here are hardcore.
It will start out innocently enough. I'll be sitting there, nibbling the icing off a kiplings bakewell tart, and a pigeon will flutter down next to me and go "pkooo?", put it's head on one side, stare at me expectantly and wait for food.
So I'll toss a tiny bit of cake down to it... and then the ominous thunder of wings...a huge dark cloud of pigeon darkens the sky, and they descend with wrath and hunger and fury in their little beedy eyes, all squaawking and Pkooo?ing as they dive after those precious precious bakewell tarts..

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I used butchers paper to wrap gifts one year.
However, I do like shiny things.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
The most awesome is to wrap stuff in random carrier bags and boxes to make the packages into weird shapes, then cover them in a awesomely shiny wrapping paper, then cover that in cling film.
It looks awesome for some reason.
Just dont do it if the gift underneath is socks.
Infact, I think the only people who should be allowed to give socks as gifts are mothers to their children.

There is one gift that guys like ever so nicely wrapped, before they unwrap it?
That is...the girl herself. Though, depending on the individual, what is considered a good wrapping is variable.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I don't mind wrapping things, although I almost always end up using the same matt gold paper for everything (Sussex Stationers, £1/sheet, you know the stuff), because I hate paper with shitty designs or tacky finishes.
But I always forget to get those frigging tag things for Christmas presents, and usually forget to get a card for Birth/Mothers'/Fathers'/etc. day gifts.
My moment of wrapping-genius was probably wrapping a book in a page of the Financial Times (which is printed on pink, rather than white, newspaper) that had a half page picture of the cherry trees blooming in Washington DC. Damn that was good.
I used butchers paper to wrap gifts one year.
Next year, wrap them in used buchers paper.
There is one gift that guys like ever so nicely wrapped, before they unwrap it?
That is...the girl herself.
Wise words.

Oh yeah, on topic:
I agree with the OP because opening stuff adds to the suspense when you can't tell what you're getting. Although, I don't care how stuff is wrapped.. I'd be happy with stuff wrapped in news paper..
And yoyobek's pigeon post made me laugh really fucking hard.
That's all I got to say.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
What you talking about to me the wrapping paper is the best part of the gift. Without the wrapping paper it's just something someone gives you, but, if they wrap it it's something someone gives you with love.

Re: Guys dont care about giftwrap.
I don't care about the wrapping paper itself, just the suspense it adds. Anyone ever wrap a gift impossible to unwrap? So much packing tape it actually takes time and a well thought out strategy to unwrap it.
