Default Protecting our posters?

Hey all.
Sorry if this sounds like another whiney moaning thread. :(

Just a quick question, because I really dont know.

How much is it our obligation to look after our posters?
I'm refering to constant abuse and harrasment, Which ofcourse I know is all a part of the totse experience, but is there a limit to how much abuse a poster has to take before a moderator can step in?

It's not much if a issue I guess, but it sometimes worries me. I know our job as moderators is to post good threads and contribute to a forum alot..
I was just wondering if we're also here to protect our posters.

I'm sure alot of you have heard of a poster called Tr1p. To be honest, I dont like him, but I feel the extent of abuse he receives on totse is bad. Again, that's normal on totse, but when posters start to make fake websites, and cruel myspace sites pretending to be him, is that not going too far?
It seems to be taking online bullying one step too far, kinda..

But, perhaps this isnt an issue and I'm being silly. I want to know what other moderators think of this issue though, so it would be cool if you could contribute.

I didn't even know Tr1p still posted, posters will always single out other posters and make fun of them, theres not much you can do to stop it.

Exotic_Touch, Wintermute, that girl who SG always called fat; Tr1p just happens to be the latest one.

Yeah.. :(

Internet bullying is typical and it would be dumb to have moderators to stop such every day things. That really would mess with the freedom of speech bull.

But sometimes it feels too harsh. *if* tr1p happens to be a real person and not a troll, I dont know how awfull he might feel about some nasty little kids making fake myspaces about him.
Doubt there's anything we can do about stuff like that, right?

tr1p is a real person, but he's also a troll. He has issues.

Moderators have attempted to help him out in the past, he just happens to thrive on the attention and pushes past it.

Moderators have no such "obligation".

Its not a legal obligation to be here, not like school where they have to deal with bullying, its an internet forum where people can join and leave as they wish

It's going to happen forevermore, and nobody would listen to mods if they told them to stop it, it just doesn't work like that
