How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
I really don't smoke cigs except when im drunk or high. But anyways I was at a party recently and I was talking to a chick and when I started smoking she seemed really pissed off. Most of the people I usually hang around with smoke but I'm wondering from the non smokers point of view how many of you are like this a find smoking a huge turnoff.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
Never really crossed my mind.
Dont particularly like how people smell when they smoke, it's not very nice.
I'd be pissed if someone I was talking to was smoking and blowing the smoke right into my face, that's just rude. Were you doing that to her? It's pretty disrespectful, and can be especially offensive to extremely anti-smoking people.

Well, cigs don't exactly smell like fresh-picked daisies. I don't smoke around people who aren't comfortably with it, and I always keep some gum handy for breath.

Your chances of having illicit sex with reggie_love are much higher if you don't smell like an ashtray, that's all I have to say.
Smoking sucks, you'll end up like keith richards one day.

i think it's retarded. my boyfriend and some of his friends "only smoke as a social thing if they're drunk." first of all, you look like a dumbass, second of all, that seems a little pointless to me, third of all, it's terrible for you and i don't care how infrequently you do it, and fourth of all, no i will not kiss you you gritty-mouthed foul-smelling thing.
smoking is just ugly and tacky to me.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
I hate smoking. Seriously. I also hate drugs of all sort. Happens when you grow up with two extreme drug addicts that spend all their money on drugs. lol. Drinking's ok, as long as it's not a girl who gets really annoying when they drink, ever meet one of them? Fucking annoying. Oh got I'm rambling. Anyways, yeah, if you want a good girl, or a somewhat ok women, smoking = bad. Don't do it. unless you're very far away from them. AND if you kiss them after you smoked a cigarette without using a mint or something, it's almost worse. So, that's my advice.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
My last girlfriend hated me for smoking because her dad had a really debilitating respiratory disease caused by smoking. She still stayed with me and fucked me and whatnot. I generally just date smokers though. Anyways, smoking's part of my image (don't lie, it always is) and if someone's not attracted to smoking they'd not be attracted to me in the first place.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
Hmm I dont like it, but I am not going to sit there and tell people I hate when they smoke, it could kill you, and dont do it in front of me. I also sometimes smoke when I am drunk so that would be stupid if I yelled at other people.
I mean if a guy was a chain smoker and went through a couple packs a day I prob. would have a hard time dating him, but thats pretty much it.

Yeah man, anyone who smokes can tell you it's horrible for you, unless they're in denial. You can't help but notice how cigarettes take over where so m any other things gave you pleasure and satisfaction.

If she smokes cigs on a regular basis, yuck.
If she occasionally lights up some bud, however, I find it attractive.

I could care less, but I've been raised by smokers, smoke myself, and most of my friends do as well.
That being said, a lot of non-smokers are real assholes about this issue. It's wrong to call black people niggers, to laugh at retards, etc. but it's fine to bitch at smokers all god damned day.

A smoker's mouth doesn't taste too great.
But, when your shitty, nothing hits the spot like a cig. And if she's shitty, I doubt it will matter all that much.

I don't really care, both of my parents smoke a lot. (My mom used to chain smoke) Most of my family smokes too. (Grandparents, aunts, uncles, ect.) And the people who I work with all smoke. I assume that I've just gotten used to the smell/sight of it. I don't plan on smoking, but if she smokes, I couldn't really care less.

I was going to get with this girl a while back... I was really surprised as well, because she was actually hot.
Anyway, when I found out she smoked I ended it. It makes me sick. I was so happy when the smoking ban came in, because I can now go to a pub without coming out stinking like a smoker.

right on man, like i can't stand these no smokers who treat smokers like lepers. I don't smoke myself becauce i'm on a damn inhailer and have no stamina but i was raised in a family of smokers so it doesn't bother me at all. But come on if someone smokes it's their choice dispite knowing the danger and people should learn to leave it at that instead of hounding them like fucking evangelicals preaching about whats right

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
I don't know if this is across the United States, but where I live, (New Jersey) smoking is banned in all restaurants, bars, clubs, ect. This is completely ridiculous. Quite a few establishments near me went under because so many of their customers smoked and they weren't legally allowed to go their.
Its a shame that some people who don't like the smell of smoke have to ruin it for so many people.

ummm...smokers can still go into the establishments. they just can't smoke while they're inside. there's no law saying "WE WILL MAKE YOU TAKE A BREATHALYZER TO DETECT SMOKE." if you want to go into a non-smoking restaurant/bar/whatever, just don't smoke in the building. no one's saying they're not allowed in whatsoever. do they need to be constantly lighting up? it's pretty sad if you can't even make it through a meal without a smoke.

dude you are the perfect example of the people i was talking about before. These places were popular and thrived because their customers enjoyed drinking and smoking and eating while talking with their friends. Unfortunatly all this ani smoking shit comes along and suddenly smokers are looked upon as dirty disgusting people and are suddenly shunned from their favourite establishments. I'm no smoker but being raised by them i know for sure you can't enjoy a pleasent evening out without reaching for a quick smoke, which now they can't do almost everywhere thanks to those jackasses who can't deal with a little smoke, get over it pussies.

dude you're the perfect example of someone who thinks only of themselves.
i never said smokers were dirty and disgusting. i know a lot of people who smoke. i think the habit in itself is unpleasant and i think the repercussions are gross as well, but i never based my opinion of them as people on their smoking.
here's what i don't get. sure, it's your civil liberty as a human being to smoke. it's your body, it's your life, etc. but for the people sitting in restaurants being forced to breathe in your smoke, your "who can't deal with a little smoke" outlook is pretty ridiculous. you're choosing to smoke. other people are not. but when you drag your cigarettes into a restaurant, people who are hey, possibly asthmatic, or god forbid it, children, are being forced to inhale what your little cancer sticks are emitting. you are literally forcing them to breathe unclean air. they don't choose to do it. what's the negative effect of you NOT smoking in a restaurant? is it really hurting you that badly? you want to talk about being a pussy, get over your pussy addiction.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
I think smoking regularly is a turnoff, but come on, lighting up once in awhile while you're out at the pub or whatnot is perfectly fine.
Smoking is a social thing, and as someone else said, really hits the spot after a few drinks. I've met so many people and gotten phone numbers just through smoking. Hell, most of my pick-up lines are derived in some way through smoking. (Example: girl asks for a cigarette, jokingly tell her that the cigarette is free, but 10 cents per flick of the lighter.)
People who are so goddamned opinionated and set in their ways are far more of a turnoff than smokers. People need to lighten up...smoking isn't that big of a deal, especially for those of us only doing it on occasion.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
I'm a smoker, i could careless either way about my partner. As far as resturants are concerned i could also care less but i think bar owners should have the right to ban smoking in there bars it shouldn't be forced. I live in minnesota and we just passed the smoking ban goes in effect in sept. But there making it so that local law enforcment and bar owners can enforce it so i doubt the little hick bars around me are going to be smoke free. Kind of a loop-hole in the new law.

Meh, for me -regardless of which drug- it's the difference between an indulgence and a habit.
A habit says alot about someone as a person.

Re: How many people find smokinga a huge turnoff?
Second hand smoke is propaganda. Whenever someone dies it is always looked to se if they were ever around smokers and most people know people who smoke so the odds are that they will have been around second hand smoke.
Most of the Toxins are absorbed by the smokers lungs hence the cancer ! The impurities in smoke pale in comparisson to traffic fumes that clog our cities.
The Law in England is passed in july or something like that. Its not anything to do with a second hand smoke . No-one has ever died of second hand smoke. Seriously look into it every report says second hand smoke related heart attack , or second hand smoke related lung cancer. it is always something else and then masked with that "second hand smoke" cliche . All of the information that the government are using to administer the ban has been legitimately disproved.
In England it is seen as a "hard" thing to do . Look a bit more like a geeza' .Nearly every smoker i have been around was either working class or trying to be hard. This is because when you some from poorer parts of the city you have to fight for everything. Your neighbour could clean your house if you left it for too long in some estates. Anyway when you are young and have taken a few beatings you want to look hard so you learn to take a few hits and change your image so people leave you alone. Smoking is very much a part of this image in England. I have never met one genuinely hard bloke who doesnt/never smoke/ed .
So before you victimise the smokers Think about how its so easy to avoid in your middle class sunny suburb. And how difficult it is to avoid in the estates.
Smoking these days is definitely a very complex part of working class culture. The government see's the poverty and high crime rates and decides that it needs to stomp on this culture . Smokers know the risks they are told the risks all day by television Radio Whiney people. But by the time you reach smoking legal age you are already addicted.
There is no escaping this . People seem to be so unforgiving . Just filled with what the media tell them . No-one really looks into why it is clearly bad for you ,It even kills you so why are we still smoking ? , The more they victimise smoking the more "Bad Ass" it will seem to kids so this is not fixing the problem .
If anyone has ever grown up on a council estate in england you will understand this mentality.
Judge souls not physical addictions...

It's easy to avoid anywhere, just don't start. I smoke cigs rarely, and the random cigar, occasions or something special, or randomly. Gf doesn't like the smell (or taste) of either, so hey, i limit it.
I find girls smoking (a constant habit, not rarely, but that sucks too) a massive turnoff, too nasty to me, stanky and lowers my image of them a lot. I rock the double standards, I know.

I with this guy. My state has a new law coming up where they're going to try and force smokers outside...it's complete bullshit. It should be up to the business owner whether or not it is allowed. Bars will suffer.

But thats new Zealand the poverty in New Zealand isn't that bad at all.
Besides i said it was in England. Go to england and you will understand.
Im not saying that New Zealand has it easy with the problems i live in wellington i knew the people who did over the nui nutters foil shop and got away with 40 grams of P along with 7 ounces. So i know both sides of the coin .
Im being pretty real and if you can ignore this cultural phenomenon then that is completely your priority. But you have to admit that cultures vastly differ.
