Default Girlfriend

I am 15 years old and about 1 1/2 weeks ago I got my first girlfriend. I thought everything was going good and then 3 days ago she texts me and says that we would be better off just being friends.

Then last night one of my friends that has known her for a long time asked why she broke up with me. She told him that I was too shy and quiet.

I am usually shy untill I get to be good friends with someone and then I open up. The main reason I am shy is because I am kind of self consious about how I talk because I have a lisp.

So my question is, do most girls care if a guy has a lisp? I get made fun of a lot by guys and it really bothers me most of the time, so I get worried that girls will judge me.

Well obviously girls DO care, because if they didn't you wouldn't have gotten the brush off from this one. Think about it....here she is with a guy that doesn't say much of anything, and when he DOES it's perhaps embarrasing for her to hear. On one hand she wants to hear more of your opinions, but on the other hand for you to communicate those thoughts you'd have to actually speak them. She found herself in a lose/lose scenario and bailed.

My advice is to move to someplace like Chinatown. That way, when you are mingling with folks that are speaking in broken english even worse than you.....you'll come off as Mr. Smooth and be swimming in females. Problem solved.

I don't think they care. I'm sure they care more about you not having confidence, i've never really had a problem with it, but you hear "confidence is everything" alot, so I guess it must mean something.

My advice: Wake up, you have a fucking lisp, get over it, you can't change it, I mean, its not as if you look like the elephant man.

Which basically shows she's still an immature little girl.

There'll be some girls who care, some that don't, but I'm doubting it'll matter much at all as you get older. People tend to not give a fuck about things like that if they're worth their salt.

I have a lisp as well. It is a dreadful thing really..we cant even say lisp without lisping.

But I have had no problems getting girls. Yes, they giggle when I say some words like mississippi or other S and Ch words but its all good. They know I can't help it. Don't be afraid and even when you are made fun of about it brush it off and dont retort back and get made..when they DO made fun of you simply say "and your point is?"

I agree with Duck In Fog. Some girls will care about that kind of thing, but they're not the kind of girl you'd really want much to do with anyway. Consider it a good way of telling if a girl is a shallow bitch or not.

However, this break-up wasn't about your lisp directly, it was about the shyness and lack of confidence resulting from it. How you speak won't have that much impact on your relationships, but if you get hung up on it and let your insecurity affect how you act, that will. If you can realise that the lisp isn't a big deal, hopefully the restored confidence should follow.

Oh, and finally, don't make this into a big deal, because it's not. You're 15 and she sounds like she's about the same age, it was a ten-day 'relationship' and it means nothing. That's what the majority of people do when they're 15; guys ask girls out that they barely know so they can have a girlfriend, girls 'break up' with the guys after a week or two. This is all just normal and nothing to do with your lisp.

Some girls care, some dont.

It's similar with alot of things, you'll find people who find it disgusting and unatractive, some people who simply wont mind, and some people who will want to rip your clothes off and hump you frantically because of it. EEK!

Dont let it get to you.
She's probably got different reasons than you being 'shy and quiet' , chances are she's seen someone else she wants to be with.
But, she's not every girl. Not every girl is the same.

Move on..
