Actually, I believe you're trying to use it as a router. Your ISP will give you one IP address to use. Your router uses Network Address Translation to assign local IP addresses to your local computers and it uses those addresses to communicate behind the NAT layer.

A switch isn't "smart enough" to use NAT, so you'll need a router.

Why do you think that you don't want multiple local IP addresses? Your ISP will never give you multiple external IP addresses unless you pay for them.

please can you give me some guidelines how i can set nat
up on the router...do i have to configure the satellite modem?

Honestly, you should just configure your topology like so:

Code:
Modem -> Router --> Computer
          ^ ^---> Computer
          |------> Computer
Then enable DHCP on the router. It will use NAT to assign local IP addresses to the local boxes and they will use NAT to connect to the ISP.
