Could it work as an excuse for conversation? Ever? If not, exactly how bad of an idea is this and why? I think it could work in some situations. I think a lot of people appreciate emotional straightforwardness on some level, though still feel the need to hold you personally accountable for your words and actions. Since in college drunkenness socially excuses pretty much everything short of rape and murder, you could potentially express yourself with retard level tact and have only the implications of your actions be considered.

I've used "I'm really messed up right now" as a disclaimer to many emotional statements that might not go so well.

pretending to be drunk is one of the tried and true traditions I've seen. I think the absolute easiest scapegoat to anything was, "yeah, sorry, I was pretty messed up last night". You could even be like "Hey <whoever>, did I say anything stupid last night? I was a little wasted and I didn't want to say anything retarded."

It's worked for me too many times to count. If they didn't like what you said, they probably won't bring it up or they'll mention it and you can just shrug it off. If they are interested, you'll know.

I had this happen to me in reverse one time. Knew this chick for a while and we ran into each other at a major bash my buddy was throwing at his house. I was majorly wasted and she had a nice buzz going on. We go up to my buddies bedroom, start to talk and one thing leads to another. Kissing a little, fondling her titties, soon as I go under her bra she says ....."no, we can't do this". I stop, we continue talking and a couple of friends come in a few minutes later looking for me to share a joint downstairs. We part company, and everything is fine..... or so I THOUGHT!

A few days later and we are talking on the phone (can't remember who called who), and after a few minutes of small talk she asks me if I remember what happened between us that night. Dumb ass me, realized it was an akward situation decided to play the "drunk card"....to further gauge how she felt about me and what happened.
